I definitely think the level requirement idea is better than just pure class only. For example, a sword that requires fighter 15 could still be used by a fighter 15/rogue 5. On that note, items that require level 40 in a class could be made, which would be pure class items indeed. Unfortunately, thi...

Two things - Any chance you folks might consider allowing high Heal skill characters to rez using healing kits (maybe 1x/day at 30, 2x/day at 40, 3x/day at 50, etc)? Well, I do think that non-clerics should be able to raise people from the dead. I normally think of rods of ressurection for this. Ar...

I have a tanked character that is practically built around having good saves. Death spells (pretty much any spell with a save for that matter) are not a problem for this character. However, I don't think every tank should have to take CoT (or paladin) and monk to get good saves. When I build tank ch...

The synergy bonus is good as it stands. If 2 guys (we'll assume same level) take out a monster, they will each get more than 1/2 what the monster is worth solo. Getting 128xp due to synergy instead of just 104 (half the value) means the party as a whole is getting an extra 25% xp. You can kill thing...

Don't forget that 2-handed weapons use 1.5xstrength modifier for the extra damage granted by strength. If you have, say 26 strength, that's another +4 damage for the greatsword. However, I do agree that a kukri's extra slashing damage shouldn't be as much as greatswords extra slashing damage. I thin...

% resistances should not exist on items worn by casters. Clerics shouldnt be better fighters than fighters. That kind of goes along with the idea of heavier armors having higher resistances, whereas robes having lower resistances. With clerics, however, there isn't much avoiding it because they can...

I must admit that in general, I am disappointed in fighter's (barb's, ranger's) proneness to spells. The CoT is a good way to ameliorate this problem, except that it is restricted to NC faction and takes up the 1 and only PrC slot that you are allowed. Fighter/CoT builds can get good saves and don't...

I like that idea for haste, allowing it to affect multiple targets. Reminds me of the days of Baldur's Gate. The 3.0 haste was too much, casting 2 spells per round is what quicken spell is for. Yes, it's a slot 4 levels higher because casting multiple spells in a round is absolutely huge. I remember...

I guess it really comes down to the high availability of phys immune shield, and the ability to switch them during combat. At least armor can't be switched (unless you run away I guess). True, some of the dropped shields have elemental resistance, but they are much less common than phys immune. I ce...

Physical resistances..too much of it?
This thread will be about physical resistances and their effects on the game. I would like to see what other players think about this. Physical resistances/reduction on armors - I personally think that this is a good thing. However, I think that the bonuses should be based on both level of equipment...

Requiring 10 levels in a class is too harsh. It is a huge limiting factor, and will mean that one can only take 2 classes pre-epic. If you want to limit multi-classing this much, play 2e. One of the ideas about 3e is the ease of multi-classing. I could see requiring 5 consecutive levels, and this se...

Notice how only 2 CORE classes have spot. All the rest on that list are PrCs. It is interesting though, I didn't realize so many of the PrCs would have spot. I'm not exactly sure what happens when you don't spot someone but succeed at the listen check. Would someone care to explain? Will it keep you...

A pure fighter cannot get good saves without equipment that gives saves. Yes, I have built fighter/CoT/DD builds (official campaign, not NS4 due to 2 PrCs...try pally??) that have good saves. But then again, a very significant portion of this is from CoT, which is limited by faction in NS4. I took s...

Unfortunately, not all classes have spot a class skill. In fact, only the ranger and rogue get spot. Yes, you can take it as a cross-class, but an SD's hide/MS will increase as a class skill thus outpacing the spot checks of those who take spot as a cross-class. Since hide and spot are opposed rolls...

The good, the bad, and the ugly
I am currently playing a rog10/barb1/sd1 on the LA faction. Here are some of my praises and suggestions: The good (just a few of the MANY)- -large world to explore, very well done -Death penalty is fair..enough to discourage dying but not too harsh. No penalty for PvP is also very good. -XP rate. I ...
