A Cha of 15 is the min for max spell level learnage, but I usually make it 16 just to get the extra HP's. That, and I have an irrational fear of odd numbers...
I think extra Cha might give you some more spells/day, but most bards don't use more than Wounding Whispers, Imp Invis and War Cry, so that's not such a big deal.
So to answer your question, I'd stop when I get to 16...they are just temporary HP's after all...

Okay thanks Charon. I made a few bards at dojo but stopped mid creation just because i had no idea what to raise, dex or cha. Now I can make an awesome bard with decent combat abilities, Yay! Thanks again.
One more question whats a good second class, and possible third class?

16 is the minimum for 6th level spells. 10 + spell level and all.

Right...my bad...but in my defense, the 6th level spells don't exactly inspire much and unless you just really want that Extended Ethereal Visage, they aren't vital. But yeah, I was still wrong...
As for other classes, pick one (or two)...bards are cool no matter what you choose.

Starting with the idea of 32 Bard with base 16 Cha... 1 Paladin and 7 Blackguard pre-epic seems like an obvious choice to me... or 4 RDD 4 CoT also pre-epic. You can even do 1 Fighter 7 Weaponmaster. Lots of choices, but with 8 levels left over you should probably be looking at having at least 4 of those as pre-epic fighter-type class so that you get your extra attack per round.

How about using Monk 1 / RDD 7 / Bard 32
Bard 32:
-max Bard bonuses
Monk 1:
5 or 6 att/rnd (with kama or hands - 5 att normal, 6 with flurry of blows)
Wis bonus to AC
bonus feats Cleave and Evasion
Red Dragon Disciple 7
+2 CON (RDD 7 - thats 40 perm. HP)
+2 AC (RDD 5)
+4 STR (RDD 2 and 4)
Now, of course you don't get the pretty little wings, as you would have to sac the max Bard bonus.
If you did go for the wings you could get the rest of the RDD bonuses if you went to RDD 10
+2 more AC
+4 more STR
+2 INT
+2 CHR
immue Fire, sleep, and paralysis
Doing this would relieve you of the following bard bonuses +1 AB, +1 Dam, +1 saves, and 2*Chr bonus in temp HP
Not a bad trade since the only thing major is the pt in AB as the RDD AC bonus offsets the song loss to end up with a net gain of +1 AC
RDD 10 also allows you to only put 14 into CHR and still be able to cast lvl 6 spells
or you could throw in that monk level and get the previously mentioned benefits (mainly att/rnd) and satisfy yourself with the aesthetically pleasing wings at RDD9 and the +2 INT boost which nets you more skill pts.
OR, if ya don't like Kamas and Hands, take some CoT or Pal levels.
The CoT would grant you additional feats and up to +4 on saves, and the +3 AB Divine Wrath temp bonus
While the Pal would grant you imm Fear+disease and + on saves = to your Chr bonus, and the use of Holy Avenger bonuses
both ,of course, would grant you 4 att/rnd
Also of note would be any of the classes that grant uncanny dodge: Barbarian (and speed bonus + 4 att/rnd), Rogue, ShadowDancer, and Assassin
this would allow you to always keep yer DEX bonus to AC
Anyway, just a few ideas
Come to think of it, it might be best to grab Monk 3 Barb 5 Bard 32

Uncanny Dodge from Barb

Notes (The best bard in the history of NS) build
She was given extra charisma to make sure her song would give enough HP to choke a camel * I miss her buffs * sniff sniff *
She was not a dex build nor a strength build, but both, since she had 10 lvls RDD in her that would give her the Str bonuses.. while I was pumping Dex now and then
The little secret to have a 30 lvl bard with a 100+ song without equipping a pair of Gnoll Tooths before singing everytime.. Epic Gloves of the Minstrel.. those things are a blessing!
Now shhhshhhh, dont tell anybody about this.. like you guys didnt already know.
