Nope, no new tileset that I saw. I'v already started kicking the tires on this one. Some interesting stuff on the DM/Dev side, not much on the player side of this patch though that you will see immediatly.

So will we need to install this Beta patch ASAP?..or will we need to wait for the Dev's Say-So?

ALWAYS wait for the devs say so.... heck its a BETA patch......
when the full patch comes wait til u notice u cant login w/o it... otherwise u'll be without the game for a while.... cmon u should know that by now...
the purpose of the post was to show people what 1.67 would bring and to allow ppl with 2 installs to try it (or ppl who dont mind converting back + forth)...
i really hope u were jokin there ala=P

Exactly, Its always best to wait until you cant log in. If you patch your game before the servers get patched ... guess what ... you no play for a little bit.
I wasn't joking...

Truely I needed to know...I have played on other servers where you could login with previuos patches..because the servers were updated as soon as another patch was released.
To the NS servers i am still very new compared to players like yourself "midnight08".
And I strongly beleive that to ask a question even if others feel it is a "stupid" question, is better than to not ask it at all...and remain stupid!

Wait for the server to tell you to do the update upon login otherwise you'll be waiting to play until they are updated.

wasnt tryin ta sound condecending was just makin the point that we should wait.... especially since its a beta patch... many servers do cross over as soon as a true patch comes over, but beta often means buggy, and i know the admins would only host the servr on a more stable patch... i had previously pm'ed fang with this same info for his testing to avoid thye chance of random players seeing this and updating... just in case... well either way i have seen the patch's cause issues since 1.61 and maybe even before that... (players pdating and then having no server for a few weeks).... so i figured that though it seemed like it may have been a joke to me.... that i'd answer anyway just in case it was a serious question....
well as always i'm sure ive overexplained myself... so enjoy look at patch notes, and soon we may see some of these changes appear on the server when the officical patch comes... until then 1.66 has done pretty good so far (except that dang implosion bug=P)

I've given up on telling people not to update until they can't play on their favourite server. Now-a-days I just laugh when people post things like, "I just updated to the new patch, and now I can't play! What do I do?!" People never listen anyway.

I am thinking they must have just left it out, or maybe they changed some of the tilesets... I mean:
Code: Select all
Added 13 varieties of new creatures to the game from Pirates of the Sword Coast: Sharks (Goblin, Mako, Hammerhead), Gray Ooze, Ochre Jelly (Large, Medium, Small), Sahuagin (regular, Cleric, Leader), Parrot, Seagull (flying, walking).
Added 79 new placeable objects to game resources:
Arrow (Penants & Signs) - 8 variety of colors
Flag (Penants & Signs) - Pirate and Umberlee
X (Penants & Signs) - Pirate X mark
Bubbles (Visual Effects) - 3 different heights
Candle (Misc. Interior) - 2 types of 2 versions - 1 set with ambient light, 1 without
Chest (Containers & Switches) - 1 buried, 1 sunken - sunken one has a bubbles effect when opened
Just leads me to believe that characters will be able to at least go into the water...

oh, simulating an underwater environment isnt that hard. the bubbles will just make it all that more convincing.

Yeah you are right... no new tileset, which blows. But you are correct, simulating an underwater enviroment isn't THAT hard... I made a short underwater area featuring the sharks and sahanguins and some of the various things like bubbles and kelp and seashells and schools of fish... looks pretty neat if you set the moon colour and fog just right.
