The DC on the Implosion cast by the cleric in Sunken is right at 40 I think, which is pretty stinking high as far as monsters go.

PC's can of course get higher...

I think they're looking for their actual Fort Save, not the DCs.

Oh, right...*sheepish grin*

Dangit, I always get pissed when folks don't read through the post correctly, now I'm doing it...

I seriously doubt you will ever be able to beat the Fort save of the higher level critters for the most part (although there are a few exceptions). I happened to check the save for the furniture in the Crypt in EC last night and I think it was in the neighborhood of 45 + d20--i.e. forgeddabouddit...:)

Let's see, 10 base + 9 for spell level (9th level implosion) + 20 for wisdom modifier + 6 for epic spell focus evocation = 45 DC or die.

I am almost certain that the spell focus/greater spell focus/epic spell focus doesn't stack with each other, but it has been a while since I made a spell caster so I forget.

DrakhanValane, Right? :?

Anyway, if they have a 45 fort +d20 save, they can make that as long as they don't roll a one. :D

Still think you'll see? 8)

The implosion spell itself adds a +3 DC modifier. AND as far as I recall, spell penetration/greater spell pen/epic spell pen stacks with spell focuses, so potentially you could have 10 + 9 + 3 + 20 + 6 + 6 = 54DC for an implosion casting.

Yeah, this is where I get iffy, cause it wouldn't stack in PnP and I mix the two up sometimes :P

The 54DC on an Implosion is nice, but I belive there are lots of things out there with tougher saves than Elvira's furniture. In my limited experience, the various Spell Penetration feats are worthwhile to get past mobs' spell resistance, but you should never count on them blowing a save, even with a bard in your party.

Try casting spells with fort saves on the mages in the Dwarven Stronghold and see what happens.

Anyway, just another $1/50.

Spell Penetration should only be affecting SR rolls. If it isn't, there's something terribly wrong going on. Epic Spell Focus gives you a total of +6. If there's a +3 added to implosion, then you could get as high as 48.

Auto-fail on 1 has been turned off, has it not?
