New Toon Generation Problem

I've been trying to create another toon on NSEast today, and every time I get the same message when I click on "Play":
"There was an error generating your character file."
My existing toons all appear to be okay, with the tiny exception of when I'm at the character-selection screen, none of the images appear when I select a toon.

How many characters do you have on that account? Maybe you need a new one?

Eight.
I thought the limit was much higher than that.

I'm now suspecting that it's something screwy with the local install.

Since you are not seeing toon images, I would suspect your local install.
Try starting a local game (nwn itself) and creating a new toon locally.
