Suppose an alien grad student was kicked out of Starfall, and set up shop elsewhere, where he makes poor knockoff versions of the Vita Ex Nex, where, instead of resurrections, the device casts 'raise dead' -- thus, "Anima Ex Nex".

Since the student was kicked out, no Alien, much less an Alien Scientist, will talk to the character while such a device is in that character's possession. Likewise, if the character possess a Vita or an Energizer, the student will not talk to the character, except to insult him.

And because the ex-student doesn't have access to the crystal fields, have the student use a wide variety of items to create the device. Say all of:

1 Helm of the Dead
1 Raise Dead Scroll
1 Ring of Regeneration
10 heal potions
10 diamonds
10 emeralds
10 rubys
10 garnets
10 sapphires
10 fire opals

Plus character level * 10k gp.

It should be twice as big and heavy as the Vita, and take twice as long to take effect (if that's easy to do -- say, first, it stabilizes the character at -20 hp, if necessary, and then in the second minute, if the character is still dead and at -20 hp, casts 'raise dead', and consumes a charge.).

This is a great idea. The Poor Man's Vita.

Would have to figure out how to get rid of the Anima Ex Nex when the player wants to move up to the Vita.

I'll file this one away for a potential project after the main revisions are complete.

would be more appropriate.

If you know where to go, collecting diamonds and gold is easy.

Allow it to be deposited in a trash can, but no where else. Alternatively, for a lvl 38 or higher, one of the blue aliens will destroy it for 1,000,000 gold.
