Epic level gear - no drop

This is just an idea that developed from a discussion on the NS West board. How about making equipment restricted to level 23+ non-transferable? As it is, the logic behind some of the drop/no-drop equipment escapes me. For example, the quest items needed to do the Elemental Shrine or the Champion's Challenge are no-drop items, even though they're consumed as part of the quest. On the other hand, most NS gear is transferable, subject to level restrictions.

What do you think?

As always, thanks to the DMs/pros for creating and maintaining NS in all its glory.

thatll get annoying fast... pick up gear to see what it is and u cant drop... no drop also means no sell no trade etc... any economy is lost with that.... i understand the idea but i think the level limits handle the balance issues well

I don't know how many people would be selling items restricted to level 23+, but it could happen. Also, there are a few 18+ restricted items that are no-drop as well, but people have learned not to pick them up unless they want them. It might not hurt to make item destruction wands cheaper, if more no-drop items were added, though.

The Flayer, enslaved gear is all level restricted and sells for more than 100k each.

Nuff said... don't no-drop gear, just keep the level restrictions.

Oops! I had forgotten about some of the newer areas, such as Starfall and Twilight as well. I wasn't sure about the level restrictions on the stuff from Enslaved, but now I know.

Alright then, how about making NS gear non-drop?

And achieve what? The only thing you will get out of it is going to be players going to the places with the low level toons having everybody else on party doing the work for them.. OR, if they want to help.. bring in their fresh 25 lvls toon.. park it on the spot then log in a 40 and help the people in party to get what its needed. So we are adding more hassle for players and still receive the same product.. such achievement 8)

I think the lvl restrictions our devs have added to the game is the best thing to mantain in order to keep it fair :)

such achievement
Alright, that sounds reasonable, and although I hadn't thought through that scenario, I don't think there's any need to be sarcastic about it.

Thanks for the information.

Oh come on Jabs, sarcasim is great...just don't use it in court. :o For some reason it doesn't sound like sarcasm when yer statement is read back! :?

I agree the level restrictions are good nuff. The no-drop stuff..so what? put it in a bag and forget about it. If it is a weapon, run to EC and smack that destruction alter. Destruction wands expensive? what? cash a problem? Ask me anytime, I'll give you 150k at the drop of a hat. Just gotta kill 2 minotaur groups to recoup that and that only takes, what 5 minutes tops?

Sheesh, some people just dont know how to work the mod. I mean killin the minotaurs and gettin 57k for the hide and 28k for the Demise (85k total) is about the easiest thing in the world to do. Any toon with a modest AC and magic weapon can smoke them, no prob. Granted the hide doesn't drop everytime but they spawn back so fast that by the time you run to the next screen (with a non-monk anyway) and sell the loot and come back they will always be there waiting for ya.

I'm talkin bout the Highlands (talk to boat man in NS to get there) for you Noobs out there.

Even Better...

Instead of buying a Destruct Wand and destroying the items, put them to good use!

Yup, you heard correctly..put it to good use on your toon.

How you ask? Two words is all needed to be said...

Alien Energizer

It takes all the junk/useless items you have and destroys them, at the same time converts the destroyed item into recharge energy for the limited use magic items that you do use in your inventory (like: Draco Skull, Starfall Gaunts, etc.).

I keep these items I cannot use or get rid of for the Energizer. All it cost me was a run through Starfall (which was great and rewarding with other gear), goto the Grey Alien area and then to the crystal fields..get a crystal and exchange for an Alien Energizer!
I will have to admit that the Mutant Penguins give me the CREEPS (its hard to hit them in the middle of a melee group..fast buggers and REALLY tiny...and to boot they do incredible amounts of damage).

There are lots of players who want to go to Starfall, just form a group and go!

Still like sarcasm?

DOH!!
and yes, I do like sarcasm. LOVE it. You should see the smile on me face. Either that or I just like posting on the forums.

What no drop items are people bitchin bout anyway?

I got a question, triton is no-drop, so can a mob disarm you of a triton then? If so where does it go? Back in inventory? Yes? How bout if I ensure that my inventory has no room for it? What then?

Not that I am lookin for a way to lose a triton...

actually, if i understand correctly, there are lots of no drop items that can be put into bags. you just cant transfer them from your inventory into a bag (thats all im sayin 'bout it for those of you who dont know what im talkin about). and yea....theres at least one way to lose yer triton. found out the hard way. blah

but cha didn't answer the question, where does the triton go if you are disarmed while wielding one with a full inventory?

Does it fall to the ground? If so can, some punk run by and nab it? Or is it tied to your toon name as well like LP tokens?

Ummmnn....actually...

You can have No Drop items in a bag, I have done it...

The problem is that you cant get them out once they are in. What I did was have my inventory open and picked up the KAMA from Celestial Lord and put it in a Bag. I opened the bag abd there it was...when i tried to take out, it gave me a message like when you try to drop a no-drop item (something like: "you cannot remove this item from your inventory", or similar message).

I have put G1 access crystals into bags to, really happy they are recognized by the NPC in Void regardless of where they arein your inventory!...lol!
