I do want to say I love the idea, its great. I do see a few flaws though... only certain classes will hold an advantage here. A pure paladin wont be using a crafted level 20 sword, he has a ridiculous holy sword spell, an Arcane Archer is in the same boat there. Shifters hardly use their gear and will suffer not much of a loss from being able to wear only level 20 equipment even non-pure druid/shifters. Fighters get left in the dust as they wont even be able to get a buff or two, hipsers will run rampant, barbarians will stand strong and proud with a ridiculous amount of DR and Regen. Wizards wont take much of a slam either, if they have a few items to give them spell slots and/or int they do just fine without the need for DC's on their most used spells.

I'm not so sure hipsters will be running rampant, considering they will not have their high end shadow/negative hide gear to help them out (other than perhaps crafted boot bonus). Spot builds aren't as reliant on gear.

Why not just give it a chance before shooting it down, this stuff takes a lot of work to plan out, there are sure to be issues to be resolved thru trial and error.

I love this idea and will be there. As far as the rules go there is time to modify them before the second event is held.

I'm still looking for a partner..... :D

DM_Kim wrote: As far as gear goes, That's why there is a limit to 1 caster per team. Don't forget that kolold shifter or SD has lowered stats too by not having gear that boost their Hide and MS a bard shouldn't have much trouble seeing them. I'm sure there will be some druid dragon forms running around looking into SD. Plan your teams well.

If you want combat with all your gear go raid a relic somewhere. I'm sure defenders will be more than willing to give your gear a run for it's money.

This is a test of your build and not how a build can be enhanced by gear. I know some won't like it, your not being forced to participate. I though of having everyone fight naked, but then there would be complaints how monks and shifters builds would rule the day.
I realise that nobody is forcing me to participate. I have hosted 3 player run events (best melee char on the server, 1 vs 1 and anything goes, who has the best caster) and thought you might like to hear what i have seen in past games.

I tried the one on one anything goes. Pure fighters and barbs (and countless other melee builds) don't have see invis. They will be fighting blind and have to wait to be attacked b4 doing anything from most any caster build, enter the bigby kings.

Some spot builds might be able to see the "lesser" hipsters out there, but for the most part you wont be able to. Don't tell me to build better, i have run the numbers, i can email them to anyone interested.

Wizards, i am sry to say, will absolutely rock. Good for them.

Its not a team game if you cant buff your teammate. Its not a test of your build at all if your with someone else.

I'm not trying to trash your event in any way at all. If you want high participation i would change a few things. That's all i am saying.

Apologies if i am beating this to death, i wont post anymore on the subject. Good luck and have fun all.

I did want to start with I love the idea, and I still do. I want to put out my concerns to make sure if anything slipped through the cracks that I caught can be looked into. I see the hipser bards running rampant... because they dont rely on gear like the others. +14 hide/ms and -10(if i remember right) to spot/listen and then factor in gear. But the characters that I see being the most likely to dominate will be wizards/clerics/bards, or more generally those toons that can negative affect 2 other toons. The fighter who is stuck swinging 1 on 1 wont be as verastile as a wizard who can bigs both toons, Neg Burst both enemies, grease, etc. Or the cleric with WoF, bards with curses and spells. Its a 1 on 2 battle for each character playing pretty much.

But I still didnt see an answer to my question (or maybe I just passed over it I was really tired that night). Are scrolls going to be allow, or crafted rods/wands/etc?

The answer to all of the problems mentioned is to allow PLAYERS to use their own gear and not useless 20th crafted. Sorry for being so blunt here Kim, but I'm not sure that would work so well..

Korr: alkawpawn mentions Rule #3, cRaZy8or5e just reminded you too of what alkawpawn said in regard to Rule #3.

Just to top it off, Read Rule #3. That has your answer.

cRaZy8or5e: Naaa you don't want any dinosaurs. Banny is going to look for then only to find they have been fossilized and stuck in a perma stonehold.

About Shitfers: You would be surprised how heavily they rely on gear and buffs.

For the rest worried about gear. Told ya that things will be tweaked but the basics will remain the same. A lot of crafter gear does suck. there is not much variety in some crafted gear or it's bisas to a particular class. This will all be balanced.

The key lines in the Gear statement are:
...... Gear will be suited to your class whether your a str build, dexer, caster...... All gear will be standardized.
You'll just have to trust.

No Frog, rule #3 is that if this is your first time at fight club you have to fight.

...and I'm sure he meant it only in the nicest way possible. :?
