Re: Svirfneblin Blindness
Food for thought.... RK has no ecl 3 race that can even make its faction specific prestige class.

Drow and Tiefling blindness can be a pain and I'm sure I've died because of it but its not normally a deciding factor in pvp. WoF can be but that gets everyone!
I have a blind Svirfneblin that's not from RK so i don't see what its good to do with RK other keen scene races have it too.

RK gets all classes, not all PRC's. Is that what you wanted to say Cahaal?Cahaal wrote:rk has no AA's

Hm, comparing factions is a bad idea anyways. Between AO and RK, they have all possibilities available, if not in races certainly in class and non faction PRC. SL and MA lack certain classes and races, NC and TC even more. Don't start looking for improvement there, first the other two allied factions would have to be put on the same lvl with the
"draconic dwarfs". Don't you think?
But again, this isn't about if RK is able to build an AA, it's about the deep gnome, duergar and drow disadvantage. I will humbly accept that all bloody fire spells will blind them, but I'll never understand it

He is correct, votes for shield dwarf being granted ECL 3 status to fill this void pleasedeathdancer wrote:Food for thought.... RK has no ecl 3 race that can even make its faction specific prestige class.

Seriously. How short are your memories? oh wait its RK complaining......
RK is hard to build in I admit. Thats why they get respect. NC,TC,SL,MA,AO have there disadvantages aswell. I think the Devs/DMs call it BALANCE?

I believe giving the Gold Dwarf Keen Senses would be appropriate. They do love searching for gold - then again so do most dwarfs but it is a much-maligned dwarf with very little going for it (Wiki rates it 2.5) compared to the other flavors and is seldomly used.
Be interesting to see the stats on the different number of Dwarf flavors taken overall and each ones popularity.

Re: Svirfneblin Blindness
my biggest complaint is that we don't have another keen sense race. all other factions do. i don't think this change was intended to inflict vulnerabilities on RK's only keen sense option. but that was the effect. this is why the change affects RK more than other factions. you have the elves.
my request would be to modify light vulnerability to not include flatfooted. or give other gnomes keen sense so that we have other options. why would keen senses apply to 'all' elves but only one gnome?
but if a dwarf were to get keen sense then i think it should be lorewarden. like svirf favored class is wizard. like svirf it gets a wis buff. seems to be more of an 'observer' type of race. logical to me.

Maybe cave dwelling gnomes and dwarves dont have keen senses?

Makes sense. And since the sniv does it is ecl 3. RK players just need to learn how to use the detect mode button.burrahobbit wrote:Maybe cave dwelling gnomes and dwarves dont have keen senses?

What would you trade in for another keen sensed race? Druids? Rangers? Maybe even mages?Chernobyl_Glow wrote:my biggest complaint is that we don't have another keen sense race. all other factions do. i don't think this change was intended to inflict vulnerabilities on RK's only keen sense option. but that was the effect. this is why the change affects RK more than other factions. you have the elves.

It's cuz you get all non-PRC classes (clarification for Cahaal's benefit) already. I've always gotten the impression that, because you have more build options in RK, the trade-off is you don't get as many race options. You'll just drive yourself crazy looking at other factions and what is possible with their race options as compared to what you're "stuck" with in RK.
The blindness is not that big of an issue, once you get used to it and no how to plan around it.
Think positive man.

I don't agree that using the detect mode button is a valid option for a spotter against any sneak. You lose the initiative and a good sd player will make you pay dearly for losing the initiative. Once you've lost the initiative you've lost the fight.
