There was an AI buff a while back that has enemies wondering in to the darkness to investigate whats going on. So yes, it is not teh uber l337 cheese it used to be, though it still provides cover and some hiding abilities.
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
Yes the famous AI buff. It's more than just mobs wondering into darkness, it's heading straight for it, then seeing you, then thrashing your butt. Wasn't enough to give 1 or 2 mobs in a group of 4 or 5 True Seeing. No we have to have the whole group of mobs move in on your Darkness so that Drow are pointless.
I see that nothing has been done to actually impove or expanded NS4. Not even the information forums have been corrected for their bad crafting advice. I see the same arguments over pvp in these forums. I saw the same shouts of calling the same players "idiot, etc" in game, that were causing the same problems 5 months ago.
Looks like to me that the only development being done is to nerf gaming feats in order to try to put people into a position of "buying" xp in order to try and beat the nerfs.
Well I'm so totally done with NS 4, so called beta, because it gives DeputyDog the excuse to have a non developing mod. Guess it's his right to and our choice not to play it. But to suggest, on your donation site, the "Benefits" of donating then giving nothing but nerfs. Now that's a smooth con game.
So do me the favor and delete my two accounts with my 15 characters as now you have rendered them as pretty much useless. This NS 4, unfortunately, turned into a waist of time for me. I had a bit of hope for it and listened to all the promises of the great things to come. So I developed Master Artisans in all crafts. Only to have them nerfed by gear drops when the "pretend" level 40 areas went in.
So open up a little space on your hard drive DD and delete Nemisser and Nemisser_II. I'll never be back to NS 4. I'm so done with this crap of nerfing everything that made NS4. Now it's pointless, useless, boring and redundent as hell after one gets to level 25. Unless of course you enjoy PK'ing newbies or holding an area hostage to weaker characters calling for a toll for "safe passage".
As far as actually leveling to 40. If you want to be bored out of your mind killing the same couple of mobs over and over. Of course you can always buy your way there.
Bye Bye.

And by the way i dont beg a dm over shout to rez me because i rerspawn like everyone else.
my word.
Back on the original topic, I have a drow and 2 tieflings and since the AI changes I have had few problems. They do NOT have true seeing and they can NOT see you from far away (unless you fall victim to the post darkness ultravision bug, which existed before). They can see you from close up, but no more than before. The main change is that they will walk towards where they think your position is at Reduced Movement Speed (examine them and you can see it in fact) which means if you stand still they will find you. Also when one finds you it will call to the others and bring them running to that location at full speed.
I think the trick is to Adapt and develop some new Tactics.
Racial darkness is still fantastic against mobs, it just takes a little more effort.

casted darkness still works like a charm..just cast somewhere and wait for them to walk into it and start blasting, because they are in darkness they won't come out to fight. lol, works just the opposite of the way it did.
when death comes for you and you are not afraid, if he asks why tell him you met me

Yeah, more realistic handling of escaping from AOE damage is coming...deathdearler1 wrote:casted darkness still works like a charm..just cast somewhere and wait for them to walk into it and start blasting, because they are in darkness they won't come out to fight.
Got it working but instead of just running outside where the damage was happening, they make a beeline for the caster. So, you've got a grace period til me or someone else can figure out where the bug is.

Gee, man, sorry your fifteen drow characters who all abused the same first-level ability to get to epic levels got a bit boring after a while, and suddenly found themselves helpless when mobs no longer stood around waiting for you to slaughter them. You could, I dunno, try a different race/class/gimmick?JustDrow wrote:

He got lazy or something and started only walking to the crossroads, so of course there was a crazy (roughly) 6 on 6 battle of bretheren and friends vs. nom, havoc, lework etc... It was great fun killing those three a few times each before we were all done looting and chasing eachother around. It took 2 or 3 guys to take down my Archangel too -lol- SLEETH RULES! I didn't even build her for PvP.
As for darkness, as was said.. using AoE darkness works great everwhere for my cleric... darkness, storm, firestorm, bladebarrier, etc... good crowd control for mobs.

I loaded up on Crafted Imbued Arrows; the way I go through them, it should last me to the weekend.Jain wrote:it's much too late... last night he logged all his characters in and dumped all the gear (I snagged some nice MA crafted stuff and coffers!)
There were a few good drops here and there, but most of it was junk.
When he was done he let out a long profanity-ridden rant on shout directed towards Deputy Dog, the devs, and the DMs as well. I doubt he'll be truely missed around here.
That was a bit nuts. I wouldn't call it 6 on 6 either, it became an ugly free for all. After getting ressed from one death I went into stealth and stayed there, watching the rest of the fight wind down. I only got killed when one of the less experienced members of the Brethren came over to where I was and someone threw a wail at him.He got lazy or something and started only walking to the crossroads, so of course there was a crazy (roughly) 6 on 6 battle of bretheren and friends vs. nom, havoc, lework etc...
