I would also guess that regardless of any security issues with the delete option, the fact that theres a massive database linked to our characters and the info stored there would not be deleted could lead to a world of confusion if you created a new character with the name of one you've deleted...
"The issue isn't wether you're paranoid, its wether you're paranoid enough."
With same name chars it seems to either replace the old one or never replace it. Really annoying if you fubar an important stat early on, but not too bad if you *somehow* made a new char with the exact same name and didn't want the old one deleted. There shouldn't be any problem, imo, with naming things the same, but for some odd reason char vaults have probs with it.

So, Unlike 14 yr olds, I don't have unlimited game time to lvl up and unfortunately, lvls 1-6 are, frankly, BORING. So, when the wipe occurs, I would love to see some sort of xp credit towards a new character. Even if it is a prorated trade or you only get credit for the xp of your highest lvl. Some sort of prop for sticking with the best Mod ever through all the stability issues would be too cool.
Second Rant: I wish we could even out the mean time between levels for lower characters. My druid raced through the first few lvls because of his companion and summons, while my dex monk could barely do anything. At lvl 5 I gave up on him. I love monks but it was WAY too tough to get him xp. Maybe I still don't 'get it' but seems like I have to give up on my monk.
Tailbone, I am sorry but this is beta. There will be no help for anyone who has to start again. The whole reason behind a wipe is for a fresh start.
I understand how you would feel since you do not have much time to play. But you and everyone else knew what Beta was about before you started your charaters.
Seriously if you don't have that much time and you or anyone feels as if it will be a big waste to continue beta testing then perhaps until the final version is released and out of beta you should play on one of the existing NS3 servers.
The Developers do not sit by and contemplate when they are going to wipe to make the players upset, but at this point the players are testers and need to understand that as a tester you are helping the mod. Unfortunately with testing comes wipes. They can be as often as what is needed for a new build or a bug fix.
When it comes out of Beta everyone will again start on the same foot.
Now that this topic has been run into the ground it will be locked. No more good can come from it and the questions were answered, over and over.
