Monks - Aren't they natural?
Well, that kind of makes sense. I thought that because they fought using what God gave them that they were natural. I don't know much history behind D&D. I figured that since The Circle and Northern Coalition were allied that it'd be ok if I was bound to Melencia.
And the whole Monk/Barbarian thing was just an example. I picked the class that first came to mind in The Circle. Sorry for the confusion.

monk's in the circle
Also I think you're forgetting how cheap a monk shifter build can be, bugs and all... even seen a dragon with stunning fist and improved KD?
Re: monk's in the circle
Imho i think the main reason why they don't allow the shifter/monk combo is because it results in dragons with the AB breakdown of a monk (1 attack per 3 natural AB instead of 5) this is an engine flaw or bug. hard to tell if bioware wanted it this way, and i'm not certain if this combo is supposed to work like this in PnP. But i know it's overpowered in NWN ...eryngabriel wrote:Also I think you're forgetting how cheap a monk shifter build can be, bugs and all... even seen a dragon with stunning fist and improved KD?
It is possible to have the monk dragon running around in NS without the shifter levels. You will just have to start as a druid in another faction where monk is allowed.
The shifter will not benefit much from the extra ab and number of attacks added by the monk class in Neversummer. All the Immunities and resists makes the unarmed shapes allmost useless. None of the unarmed shapes merge any of the nice monk gloves with added damage and such. The extra AC from the wiz and extra bonus feats is very nice
(I agree with you that monk should not be allowed in TC because of the monk/shifter builds. I do enjoy playing a shifter myself and do not mind not being able to select the monk class )

Agreed. If I ever saw a dragon-monk coming my way, I would definately run for my life!Throst54 wrote:agreed, that is an awesome build.
tho, remeber they are gonna keep factions, for the most part, in thier RP base... tho, there are factions that arent...really.. much at all.. based in rp
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
not really.... nature is natural.. monks are supernatural.Downfall wrote:I can see why you want to make a monk thats one with nature (it makes perfect sense) monks are at peace with themselves and nature (usualy) . Ao would be bad for them because they are ennemy faction with melancia (protecters of nature) .

at 20th lvl.. monks become supernatual beings... a planar being to be more correct...
it's not so much a sterotype... but an imbued part of a monk. as they progress from lvl 1 they sheer away from thier human complexities and turn toward a godly form... and stuff
