1.67 Update

Post by Myrdyr »

If you're having trouble with the update, the patch selections are here: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch.html

English Windows patch is here: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_english_hotu.html

If the update fails through the automatic update or using the Update button, the critical rebuild for Windows is 68MB.

I'm stoked about the patch! Does that mean since it contains PotSC content, the water plane (if it is to be added) may be entirely underwater? Maybe Sunken Isle needs a rework too?

The new tilesets are in .haks that have to be downloaded seperately from the patch itself. I have my doubts as to whether NS 4 will bother with them because of this.

However, some of this new content can still be used without the tilesets. Maybe there can be an area with sahuagin added onto Sunken. Or it might be fun to see sea gulls added to areas like Neversummer City: Old City, Garagoth: Docks, Sleeth: Ancient Gates, Daeron: Harbor, Black Hills (the NW one with the inn), Grey Shores, and the Highlands.

My feeling is we'll use 'em. They're HAK packs that are by Bioware, supported by Bioware, and downloadable through the Update feature in NWN. We'll see once they're released and by what mechanism, but in my mind, they'll be too good to pass up.

Actually, we probably don't need them at all to do the Plane of Water (or anything else underwater). Check this:

Just use the desert tileset (caves and underdark would probably work well too), set the right kind of lighting, put in those new placeables, and voila!

its even cooler to see sharks swimming with no water. i do think that if the water plane goes into water then sharks and sauhagin should be upped tremedously and made to kill anything that goes in...maybe even set time limits for going into the plane to find rest areas so that you can breathe again.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

How about Potions of Water Breathing that let the character stay underwater for a certain amount of time without having to worry about air? Have Elvin or something sell them (not too expensive, say not more that 500-1000 gp depending on the duration of the effect) and make them necessary for travelling in the Undersea City, a Plane of Water, or any other underwater area. Without them you take a certain amount of unavoidable damage each round until you drown.

Yeah, something like that...or have the water dish out damage if you're not wearing a Gill Helm?

A long time ago I was working on a water or air gensai build. Till I realised sunken wasn't underwater. I've seen underwater areas and water breathing potions on a different server a while back. It would be interesting. Do air/water gensai have immunity to the druid spell drown, or is this one of the areas suited for them best :)

One server had a 4 space Pearl of Underwater Breathing. Without it, you transitioned into water and died.
