How do you know when a halfling is lying?
Take them for a walk! If they ever stop walking while they are answering your questions, then they are lying! Why? Because bluffing is a Full round action and we all know that you can't move and take a full round action. So forget Zone of Truth, Discern lies and Sense motive checks. Just go for a walk...if they stop, you got em!.
