Help...System crash, using backup disc.

I've been having real bad crah problems as well. Gotten so bad I said screw it and took it to the reapir shop today. I usually am on 24 hour call a lot and tote a Thosiba laptop to work to play in the down time.

Things seemed worked fine until one day system crashed while playing HOU. Every now and again would get a bright blue screen with a bunch of letters lasting a few seconds then total systen shut down and reboot.

The only thing I can make out is something about BIOS. When It reboots it says system recovered from serious error.

Other programs seem to work fine. There is no patten to this crash, only the fact that Im playing NW, but it can occur 15min to couple of hours into game.

I have tried updating BIOS (whatever that is), to having my computer geek-buddy look at it. My computer skills are limited to playing NWN and reading email, so I took it in.

But after reading Shiny's post Im wondering if the thing is not overheating, and mybe I fried something.

Since the service guy wanted my HOU CD to try and get laptop to crash, Im only left with a cd copy which I made. Now went to use it and getting a "must use original cd" notice. Anyway around it?
