Quick question regarding Factions and Faction changing
Quick question regarding Factions and Faction changing
I've yet to join your little PW, but I have a great "concept" for a character that I'm not sure I can implement given how it appears that you treat factions.
Would it be possible for me to set up a Cleric of Lathander in the Faction of the Circle, and after a couple of levels "Change faction" to the Ancient Ones?
Reason - I have a bio all planned out for a Cl/So/DD - which begins with him being abandoned at a Shrine to the Morning Lord and raised by a Lathandan priestess. I'd begin my "Life" as a Cleric of Lathander, and (after a couple of levels of advancement) "Discover" my Sorcerous abilities. This would lead to me RPing a quest to find my "roots" as it were - which in turn would lead to my "Discovering" my Draconic heritage (i.e. leveling up as a DD).
Catch is, DD is restricted to AO - and AO does not list Lathander as a "Suitable deity" for a N-G Priest (not to mention it would be a pretty wierd choice under the circomstances).
So, the question remains - Is faction changing permitted given a valid RP reason?

Thanks for the responses.
No - that's completely the wrong way. I want to be a Cleric of Lathandar that discovers and embraces my drakonian heritage - Not a Sorcerer/DD that rejects my drakonian heritage.
Ahh - the answer. Thanks for that - but this leads to another question. I can maintain the concept "in principle" by joining the AO Faction - so long as I can do so as a cleric of Lathander. Is this permissable within the "rules" - or by being a NG Cleric in AO am I "Forced" to worship Bahamut?Metis wrote:To answer your question, faction changes are not given.

Assuming that this is within the confines of the "rules" - this is probably the way I'll go.KST_HAVOK wrote:Yeah you can technically RP your self being a follower of that god since you are brought to this realm from another " Stretching it i knwo " but if you think you can rp it then Go for it

RP is definately encouraged. The only thing that can't be changed is your home city, if you want to RP from anywhere more power to you. Just remember if you are playing you went from Melencia to AO, if you create your character in AO the PC's will see you as hostile as well as defenders of all AO enemys.

Tiamat. Not just an AO diety, the rest of the world just hasnt been beaten into submission yet. Soon though they will know that thier foolish followings of the lesser beings was for not. What other is greater than Dragon kind.

OK - So (forgive me for being nieve) what you are saying is that I CAN be a Cleric of Lathander AND a member of AO, without penalty (excepting that like all factions, membership in a faction will give you a bunch of allies and enemys). I will assume, baring some message from a DM to the contrary - that that is the case, and proceed accordingly.Metis wrote:RP is definately encouraged. Like all Dragonkin, I respect you Tiamat, but if you think for one moment I'll actually get down on my knees and worship your evil 3 headed presence, you're as deluded as Lum (As in the Greyhawk version - not Scott Jennings).TGPO wrote:Tiamat. as havok said...you are technically pulled to this realm from another so you can already worship any diety you want to. Lathander is a perfectly acceptable choice and no one will tell you who you must worship if your from anywhere. as you will see from here joining any alliance will make enemies and friends depending on where you are. these change from faction to faction.
I find that odd - as if my "Realm of Origin" is not connected to Neversummer - how am I obtaining my Divine powers?Death Dealer1 wrote:as havok said...you are technically pulled to this realm from another so you can already worship any diety you want to. .
Anyway - my original question is answered - I'll just go mod my bio accordingly.
See you all in a few weeks (just want to finish the NWN SP campaigns again first to refresh my memory)

Also, I'm sure that Bahamut in his Platinum Glory would have something to say about the wanton destruction of Dragonkin simply because they choose not to worship your evil mistress...
