I got Booted for not answering a question....

Ok whoever just booted steve williamson on server 4 for not answering their question 'are you a dm', please revoke my ban.

The answer is 'no'. i am not a dm. i am an avid player who does not like to be banned for not answering unknow persons questions on a PVP server.

If you had ID'd your self as a DM i would have answered you promptly.
If this is sufficient, please hook me back up. I've done nothing wrong but work hard on my PC....

(In case this happened just after you logged in or jumped to a new (laggy) server, I've had a couple "slow boots" where it seems the scripting limiting the numbers of players got a little bogged down and let me move around for a bit before disconnecting me with the "You've been booted" message. If you'd been on for a while, it's probably not the case though.)

I do not think any of the DM's would boot you for that. The DM's know each other and would know if you were a DM or not without having to ask you. I have gotten booted tranfering servers myself if that is the case. If you go from say server 2 to server 3 and server 3 if already full or at max players allowed you will get boots automatically. Now if you are banned from entering any or all of the NS 4 servers and did not do anything in your opinion, perhaps it was a mistake. Or maybe you did something else you are not sharing?

Also DM look for players that are not doing anything or are afk for a long time. If the server if full and there is a player that is afk for a long peroid of time, then a DM might boot a player so another player will be able to log on to play...

Yeah, if i sit idle for a few mins while making a post here or elsewhere i get booted. I assume it's from a script though.

Thank you for making a suggestion, but no i certainly got the boot from a dev/dm or somesort for not ansering his/her question. Went like this:

Hindsight 20/20 knowing this is a DM its obvious how i should have answered. In reality my character had just completed several PVP battles and was in a particular state of paranoia regarding unknown speakers and unknown questions....All i needed was: 'hey man, this is DM Generic, im lookin at my logs and your lvl is pretty high, what's the scoop?....and i would have told him that i spent the better part of server 4's reboot woahs trouncin on spawn after spawn of NS guardians for 200+ xp a pop and my lvl is just where it should be....

Everytime i try to login in now, it says BOOT immediately, So ive def been black flagged in error....

Well, he said that the unknown speaker didnt identify himself as a dm or dev. Maybe if you had ID'd yourself, might have gotten a better set of responses?

Also, what is a "high level" to you? 15+? 20+? Some people have been playing / testing the beta practicly non-stop since it re-opened. Some may be using chars from the 1st opening. Most of my free time is late night, when im home from work and there isnt much to do (weeknights anyhoo) So thats when i get in the bulk of my playing time (around 4-6 hours) and im only a lvl 13 on my main guy. So just think what people who play 10+ hours per day, AND are still using the chars from the 1st opening have in regards to lvls.

Ok, Hi RadPro. Nice to have a name to my boot/ban'er. I posted the conversation how it happened and I don’t think its smart [censored] at all. I told you why I responded the way I did, and it makes sense. PVP fosters paranoia. I've benefited from hindsight, perhaps you could too and appreciate my point of view.

If you mistook my paranoia as smart [censored] I apologize. If I had known you were a DM, we could have had a friendly conversation about my level instead of my day of happy gaming being interrupted and ruined.

Also, I answered your question in the post above. Ill answer again. No I am not a DM.

(This is why I was paranoid in the 1st place. Shouldn't you as a DM know who is also a DM? As a player it seems pretty silly to have DMs asking if you are DM. This lead me to believe that you were another player trying to tip the scales of victory.) You said yourself this is beta and you are looking for problems....

Perhaps DMs should carry DM tags instead of names that can be mistaken for players, might be a solution to this type of problem.

I also mentioned the method in which I raised my level, killing spawn after spawn of LA town defenders during the numerous server 4 resets. So I am not sure what other question(s) you are referring to for these are the only ones you asked me.

I booted and banned you for being an uncooperative smart-[censored]. This is beta testing. We need to learn how the game plays so tweaks can be made.

I asked some simple, polite questions and you had nothing but smart-[censored] remarks. If you do not want to participate in beta testing then wait until it's over.

Your ban is for 24 hrs. After that, you are free to log in. When I see you, I will ask the questions again. Same answers will get same results.

I mean when Oghma appears in front of me and says "Do not abuse the neutrality of this ground mortal" Im already thinking I smoked too much pot or am too sleep deprived to tell deers from DMs...
Let alone when a mister named Unknown speaker asks me if Im a DM and that my lvl is a bit too high, my first response would be a little similar to "Bugger off and explore newbie". Yea Im not nice, but who is these days? When I hear stories of lvl 15s going out of their way to kill a lvl 1 Id say I have the right to say the truth in a rude way. The way the question(like solomon said) was asked is also the exact standard newbie question when they want to get good lvl areas thrown in their lap, when someone asks you nicely or just says hes a DM and wants to know if theres an XP bug on the loose it gives you more of a reason to respond other then a paranoid PvPer or rude jerk...
You really dont know if its a DM untill you get booted, if it was someone named DM Radpro asking and solomon would be saying "Ooooh I thought DM mean Da Man, sorry" Then it wouldve been different of course...

Sorry if I sound rude or am sticking my nose into something I have nothing to do with, but this is the way I feel about it, and I wouldnt like it if it happened to me.

RadPro might have gotten a lot better response if he had identified himself.. (I miss servers where DM's were DM_Somebody and showed themselves before they spoke) but he only banned him for 24hrs, and is giving him a chance to explain himself.

Rayofluck might be paranoid, but my opinion is if someone asks if you are a DM you say NO! (unless of coare you are) But at least from the side you posted it does sound as if it could be misunderstood easily.

Hopefully they'll both meet tonight, work it out and make everyone happy

Heh... I had that with Kiaransalee... I was having a full blown conversation with her in tells after she asked me to stop afking in a store (and therefore jamming it open), and only after a good 5 mins I realise I can't find her name in the online players list and that I had been speaking to a DM all along...

Fortunately the conversation was in good humor and I'm not inclined to rudeness
