Palemaster lvl 40 summon.

Sorry to start so many threads about PM's, but it's a different topic every time. I'll start doing the same thread if it's annoying people.

My Palemaster just hit lvl 30 and my undead summon just upgraded to the Master Lich. Upon summoning it says there are requirements to get to the next one on the list. The message says
'This summon has reached it's limit for non-lvl 40 casters, 30 of which need to be Palemaster levels'

I'm a bit confused and annoyed. Does that mean I need to have NO non-caster levels to get to it? If it does, I would hope someone would update the Wiki site which only states you need 30 levels of PM, the other 10 don't matter. My build was made to get to the highest summon, but I took 2 levels of fighter for armor/weapon feats. I can't really de-level him since one of the fighter lvls was lvl 1.

Anyway, I guess I'm just wondering from the Devs if I need to abandon this toon and start over if I want to hit the top summon. /cry

So your lvl 40 with 30 pm lvls? do you have grater spell focus necromancy i think you need that too

No, I'm lvl 30 with 20 PM levels. You just get a message when you summon your undead that lets you know what you need to get to reach then next summon. It says you need Greater Necro focus, and 40 caster levels 30 of which need to be Palemaster levels. like before I reached lvl 30 it said I needed Necro focus, and 20 Palemaster levels to get to the new summon.
I attained that goal, now the new goal looks like I can't reach since there was no notice of needing 40 caster levels anywhere. It makes me sad. Just want to know if the message was correct, or Wiki was correct.

Im fairly sure the wiki is correct, havent made a PM myself to know all in all. I do know Ive seen a few PMs that were wearing armor and shiled and weapons befitting a fighter, though I would venture to guess the didnt blow 4 feats to get all that.

Another though is that if it says you need 40 caster levels, then youll never get it, because PM levels dont add to caster level anyway ';)

Korr is correct. You do not need 40 caster levels. You can get the lvl 30 PM summons with a 4 ftr/6 wiz/ 30 PM combo. The key things are the 30 PM levels and the necro focuses. I am not sure if conjuration focuses assist with the summons strength or not.. I just don't remember. So fear not.. you are on the right path.

Being a PM implies a caster lvl or 2, so at level 40, you are still considered 'a caster' hence the misleading wording of '40 caster levels'.

With Spell Focus in Necromancy and 20 levels in the arts of a Pale Master a Master Lich can be called from the depths to serve. Creatures willing to sacrifice thier souls to this black science for an additional 10 PM levels can draw upon Greater Spell Focus in Necromancy to summon the most powerful slave in this world once they have fufilled their own progression....

I think the wiki summons guide explains it well right now at 30 you got all you need for the Master Lich so if you have Greater Spell Focus and 30 pm lvls at 40 you will get the “most powerful slave in this world” so you don't need 40 caster lvls just 30 pm and the lvls of the class beforehand to get pm
