Bugged Wild Elf Stats

Post by Lorkar1 »

It seems to me that the stats for wild elf are either bugged or incorrect as stated. This was copied from the NS documentation thread.

Wild Elf

The very rare Wild Elves are rarely seen by others, because they live in the heart of thick forests and they have incredible skill at keeping hidden. Also called green elves, their skin tends to be dark brown, and their hair ranges from black to light brown, lightening to silvery white with age.

* Favored Class: Druid
* +2 Dexterity +2 Wisdom, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma
* +2 Hide, +2 Move Silently, +2 Spot

I created a Wild Elf Druid and when the cinematic intro ended I looked at the sheet and noticed that my Dex was not increased yet I took the hit for Int and Chr. The wisdom was increased +2, as was the Con which was not supposed to be. So either my character needs to be adjusted or the documentation needs to be changed in the forums and in the wiki as well. Below are the pre and post SS's for my toon.

You've been here long enough to know this:
Joran wrote:Because subrace properties are applied to your character after you connect to the server, the statistics on your character sheet when you create the character will not reflect subrace bonuses and penalties. Some racial properties will be removed and adjusted to fit the subrace properties. Elves, for example, receive a natural +2 to Dexterity and -2 to Constitution. Sun Elves, however, receive a +2 to Intelligence, -2 to Constitution. This means that when you connect to the server, the racial +2 to Dexterity will be removed, and the subrace +2 to Intelligence will be applied. No change is made to your Constitution, since it balances out. Always be aware of how the subrace properties will affect your character's final statistics.

I have been here long enough to know the difference, and my being here long enough has nothing to do with the matter at hand. The post creation SS does not reflect the sub-race bonuses correctly.
The pics I have posted are the raw stats as they were when I "rolled" the character and when I was able to play him after being accepted into my faction.
If you look carefully you will notice that the stat bonuses were misapplied.
I got the wis bonus but not the dex bonus, I got the int and chr reduction, I also then received the con bonus which I was not supposed to receive, at least according to your own documentation.
*edit* my inability to take the bioware racial bonus into consideration led to this.

You're an elf..you got the dex bonus... you built the character with a dex of 14, and that's what its supposed to be after character creation too. Normally you're dex would be 12.

There's NS4 ability bonuses and Bioware bonuses. Dexterity for an elf is a bioware bonus.... notice that when start creating your character an elf starts with a base dex of 10, instead of 8... there's your bonus.

The +2 constitution is correct... its not a bioware bonus, but an NS4 bonus.

ok then, I did forget about the bioware bonus. My apologies Netrom. Just because I have been here long enough doesn't mean I can't make stupid mistakes. I do believe I am approaching Master Artisan in crafting stupid mistakes, thankfully I am not the only rider on that short bus.

*pokes with stick* Yep.. it is well done. :D

I had to do a double take on the stats too. I almost forgot all about the initial bonuses and the changes made when entering a new subrace set. If anything this makes for a good reminder to others. I am sure it will not be the last time this is brought up. :lol:

If you notice in the wiki under races the ability mods post creation and subrace are there
Note: Wild Elf is a Subrace of Elves. To choose it you must pick Elf at creation and choose Wild Elf at first login.

Choosing the Elf race will include Elf adjustments already, therefore your stats will be adjusted from those selected at character creation as follows:

+2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma
The wiki is a valuable tool in creation of NS toons. Its almost all in there!

Naw, you were definitely ununwrong. The subrace stats are listed as the modifiers against the 'standard' (human) set of attributes, precisely the way the bioware races are. It's stressed quite a lot in the documentation (and even more in the wiki) that you have to take your bioware racial adjustments into account to make sure you get your final stats right.
