Your Time Is Gonna Come

Post by Findor »

I am unable to delete a couple of L1 to L4 toons for some Microsoft-like obscure reason. When I attempt to do so, I get the following error message:

Your time has not yet come (Security Check Failed)

Now, as best I know, I am attempting to delete these toons in the faction into which they were born. I keep playing a certain Led Zepplin song in hopes it will help matters, but so far to no avail. What might be the problem?

Play Led Zeppelin songs backwards... that should work.

I've come across this aswell. It happened on an account I did not create and a toon i didnt create-Public dcn account. Are you on a different computer/ip then the creation point?

deleting toons does not seem to serve any useful purpose, as they still remain in your toon list when you connect. last i checked it was something that devs were looking into but the complexity of making sure every table in the database was cleared of the old toons made this hard to accomplish.

so i'm guessing that this is a low priority feature for now. even toon deletes start working theres a chance a stray entry in the database will someday hose any new toon that tries to use the same name, so I would not recommend re-using names in any case.

so dont delete, and dont reuse names even if it looks like you might be able to.

I have built a new PC to replace the one from which (probably) the toons were created. The ISP is still the same and I don't use a static IP address for any of my boxes. You may be onto something here, but would have to see the delete script to figure out what conditions are being tested. I don't know if it uses native NWN functions (in which case I may be able to guess the problem from a NWN script reference) or makes calls to external ones.

Well, actually, this option has worked well for me in most cases - including instances where I used the same name over again. So I think I have unwittingly uncovered some kind of special case that was not considered when the script was coded (as if that has never happened with software before - lol).

If you use a different CD-key when you try to delete the char from when you created it that would be the reason. We put this security in to prevent someone logging into others accounts and deleting a whole bunch of toons (apperently gamespy security sucks?)
