Can't Connect

Arg.....

For some reason I can't connect to NS4 Prime, I keep getting Server connection failed and timeout error. I can connect to Reflections so i can't see this being a port issue because they both run on 5121. Dont they?

Help plz?!?!?!?!?

It appears typing in direct connect

74.192.163.185:60001 works

its a toss-up as to which port will work. always pays to try both. (and the port that will work may be different for everyone who connects at any given time).

Is there any way to tell which port it is? Usually it's one of the two (5121 or 60001), but there have beena couple other (61002? 63001?) I recall as well, but the on;ly ways I know are to tell are 1) trial-and-error (I have both set as a shortcut on my desktop), and 2) go to the boards and hope some kind soul has posted the right number. How do you people who know something find out the right port?

rather than guessing fire up full nwn and find the server using gamespy (under pw-action). i think there you can check server props and see what port it's on.

otherwise just crawl the boards.

A port is the number after the ":" on all the server IPs. Currently, NS Prime is :60001, (for me) and is rarly 5121.

I think you will find 95-99% of the time it will be 5121 or 60001 (hows that for precision lol!)

The other 1-5% would be 62307.

I usually log and if it hesitates for a moment I cancel and try the other shortcut. I dont use gamespy because of all its inherit security flaws including ripping off your CD Key making your copy of NWN near useless.

it looks like they've set up port forwarding on prime so that you can use either port at any time. i cant figure out why one port works sometimes and not others (especially when i know that people are currently using the same port i can not get to).

either prime's ISP is playing port blocking/shaping tricks or prime's router is still having issues.

Got 2 direct connection on desktop, if 1 goes wierd i take the other but the 5121 is mostly the less laggy one
