Shout Channel Abuse

Post by Gornickthy »

A suggestion that would strike fear and despair into the hearts of many attention seekers is to ban the Shout channel from random use. Back when TLB and IO were fighting for dominance on Reflection DM Fire made it clear that the shout channel was not to be used for random jibber jabber. Abuse of the shout channel was punishable, and it actually made the game much more enjoyable. It removed the annoyance of all the fighting, insulting, and attention seeking that is so abundantly used to abuse the shout channel.

So my suggestion is to reinstate DM Fire's shout channel rules from the days on Reflections to Prime. Remove the heavy traffic of shout channel abuse, and make such abuse punishable once again. It would be nice to be able to actually not be forced to disable the shout channel due to constant crying, insulting, and whining about everything in game. The one major complaint by many players behind the scenes is the constant baby crap being conducted on the shout channel on Prime. So maybe the Dm's should consider this?

Naaaa... can't ban Shout DM Chase just loves that channel.

Beside for me it's much more fun and easier to BAN players who continuously abuse shout for their arguments.

If I don't have relics to defend, I just turn it off anymore, too much trash on it. Wish there was some way to delineate between server announcements (resets, relics in danger) and people's shouts.

I like shout.

As for whining, I got 3 kids so ignoring it is not a problem.

But this is like being stuck in a room full of other people's children who are all screaming and whining at the same time. You just want to reach out and smack them, but you know you can't.

Some of you hate the shouts, some of you find them entertaining.

However, if you are ingame and the players on shout are getting out of hand, there is something you can do.
Get on the DM channel, and ask nicely for one of us to bring the hammer down on the shouts.

It's rather problem free, in most cases, to curb shout abuse with well placed warnings here and there.
