Same here, I just thought it would be neat for some gear that looked really cool. Didn't have to be uber, just unique and 8) .

NO!!!!

There are SOOOO many problems with having 1 uber boss that drops all the best gear.

-everyone will be walking around wearing the exact same set of gear eventually, and no other gear will be bothered with

-everyone will be lining up waiting to kill G1 thus causing really annoying waits and races to get the crystals to enter the lair

-people will be shouting constantly 'WTB:G1 gear' and running around begging people for gear

So either the gear should be EQUIVALENT to the current level of planar boss gear -or- if it's slightly better, it should be CURSED in some way (like -some- of the boss gear is, having vulnerabilities to something)... etc. OR of course, some kind of 1 x day ability like Imp.Invis of the G1 Scale, etc... but again, you create a 'must have' gear list and the focus of the server shifts to more pure good-gear-gathering rather than good-building.

if you guys are talking about setting up to the end of your char progression then shouldn't the best gear in the game be lvl 40 restricted? better than planar or generic dropped gear and only useable once you hit 40.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

Yeah, now that you meantion it I remember that over on NS3.5. So it wouldn't be unique :( . I'd just like to see some unique gear that you can parade around in.

Great only the level 40's will have 25 absorb and +7 gear. So those 5-8 guys will rock everyone even more then now?

Does this make sense?

I think 35gear is reasonable. When there is only one source for a monster, it will get way beyond Ugly. Anyone remember EQ where guilds would all wait for nagafan for the Cleric drops? This was bad, really bad feelings way beyond PK irritation, people really hated one another. I do not recommend this single mob for gear.

Bragging rights, perhaps, perhaps even drop some random book+ off it, thats still obtainable on other mobs. Or adamantite, but dont make it two unique or you will cause more issues then you think.

I'd be happy if it opened up a planar smith that let me convert my existing adamantite gear that isn't for my classes I play, and lets me convert it to another type. That would be interesting.

i agree w/ celorn --- a single endgame boss is foolish because it will become the main focus of everything --- and it will again defeat the purpose of everything

i know we can all relate to other games, where an endgame boss becomes the focal point of EVERYTHING -- (diablo for example)

yah! NS4 is GREAT because it has so many end-game bosses.. not just 1.

It allows for more boss killing and less line-waiting.

But it would be cool to have an ultimate challenge boss, using the demon model that was the boss in the OC nwn... like ns3.5 uses for the one DWP boss, and the Balor Princes.

Make him CR60 or something, with insane AC, AB and epic spells, etc... The drop could be a chance at a +6 manual, and 2-5 lvl30+ generic drops, or maybe some boss-type gear that has some nice properties that doesn't exist yet, but isn't way out of line with the rest.

i still think G1 will be implemented, but not on the scale you are suggested. remember back when the devs said the 'outer' planes are still be worked on? Try dragon realm as the outer plane next to air, with its boss the best dragon...G1, though that G1 would be similar in power to ragnar/cheery room, maybe a little more.

not to mention the hall of dead...perhaps an outer realm next to shadow and connected to MA? with the boss being draco...who is already in the server.

isnt this going against everything you said earlier? i really cant believe that this type of boss would -not- be camped for awesome gear by lvl 40 parties...

i dont see a need for any higher magic gear, just more variety of it. this is supposed to be a low-ish magic server where the build counts more than the gear...lets keep it that way

well i just meant that IF G1 (or some other uber-boss) is to be the 'ultimate boss', make it more of a status-thing, with XP and generic lvl30 drops, rather than dropping a piece or two of a set of gear that is better than everything else.

+6 books could drop from other bosses, lvl30 gear can drop from all the other bosses, so it's not like people would camp G1 (plus the respawn time would be the highest of all anyhow).

I can't wait till Draco, Kutty and G1 find their way into the planes... they should be entertaining.

G1 will come someday.

The plan is to have 6-8 areas of lvl 36-40 gear covering every type. That way you get the variety you want. These will be unique items etc.

Currently the standard drop items that drop randomly cover that to keep things dispersed.

I dont think we will do standard set above what they are currently.

All of you power gamers will go through system shock when we get the first part of ns5 open though and its only levels 1-5 lol

eeeeh, sounds invigorating !

thx for the scoop DD, so we dont have to keep wondering :wink: tho i never worked my way far enough into ns3.5 to experience any level 40 gear, it is quite mind boggeling, but at the same time it gives players more of an incentive to take their toons all the way to level 40 !

tho i must say i dont intend on swiching to Ns5 , simply b/c by that time i should be preoccupied by RL things and i may have to drop everything alltogether :cry: SHhhh ! fatzo ! dont say that ! ....hehe thats a long ways away at the moment.

what would be awesome is if there was a way to merge ns4 onto the nwn2 engine and form an ns5 -- i think theres a thread on this auctaully, wishful thinking....

im excited to see it go back to lvl 20, builds will be much more focused..no more being able to do everything with one toon, you -will- have a weakness heh

so what i heard is the hole point of ns4 is going out the window. +6 weapons are already way overboard. this game isnt about gear or atleast shouldnt be. i would like to see all +6 gear or higher removed from the server. its disgustingly over powered for the basis of this server, which is a semi artifact and magicless world.
