Relic XP bonus and faction standing

I audibly heard the *bzzzt* when I thougt of this one. I think cuz it was the crossing of the faction status thing going on and also relic wars and the neverending struggle for balance.

Could relic xp bonus have 2 components or more? First thing that comes to mind is a flat multiplyer by faction standing. So if you have 2 relics, and the base is 10%, if you happen to have a faction standing of 100%, then you get the full 10% bonus. If you happen to be in bad standing with say 50%, then you get 5% xp bonus. If you are at 0% standing, then you get no support from your homelands, as you have been shunned.

My mind then wandered onto the idea of time based relic percentages like the above. It shouldn't be 'per capture' or 'per raid' it should be more global than that. Something that measures a 'unit' of relic capture per game hour and applies that as a negate for diminishing returns. With lack of battle for the relics, the holders slowly revert to a lower base level. (Removing it entirely promotes stagnation).

Faction A holds 4 relics = 4 units/hour
Over any X hour period if the average units is 7, then drop base XP bonus to 50%.
If any X+Y hour period is average units 7, then drop base XP bonus to 25%.

Repeat for cases 6,5,4,3,2 and code as needed 8)

I'm a bit uncertain what you meen, but you think something along the lines of perventing ME from just loging inn and killing raiders that tries to leave with the relic :twisted: :twisted: intead of propperly protecting it. That might encurage more ppl to actualy raid, if noting else.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

I'm really confused... The hell you say?!?

Anyhow, I believe the devs try to keep away from adding in things that need timings/extra heartbeats, tends to add to the overall lag.

The current system works, but with 35%, I'm personally a lot less motivated to waste my time with relix now... The funny thing now is when LA doesn't have relix, nobody other than LA seems to go and raid for them cuz it everyone who's not an LA supporter are all 'buddies'. Alliances do have their bad side I guess.

What may be interesting is to add a bonus for faction allies - ie: 4/3 split gives an extra 5% to both (or something)...

Yeah, keep dreaming. Garagoth visited Melencia today. So much for your theory. Besides, if I see a lot of LA around, I won't attack the other faction, because I know once we start fighting each other the mob will swap over us. I rather fight the huge stupid beast, if you get my meaning.

lol Dont know what the no one is raiding stuff is about , ive had a 4 day relic bonus and im not from LA so its working good for me, plz 35% is rubbish your right dont bother with it anymore :wink:

A 35% xp bonus is huge... if you played NS4 for 3 days, leveling up a character with the 35% bonus, it's like getting a free day in.

well i mainly haven't had the time to play much lately, so the time it takes to get a party together to get the relix is about all the time I have which means 0 time to put any XP on toons - so again, not worth it.

but if I'll be online all day, then sure, it's worth it for a third more xp, takes the edge off of my ecl toon.

hah ! i must say i like the 'new' 35 % change ....it used to be 50 % ; and a simple slice off the maximum percent should bring a bit more balanced to a system that has a history of being scrutinized on a weekly basis.

if you look at "the big picture" so to speak ; each faction has had their moments of glory and sucsess with relics.... hmmm except for NC :twisted: ....shifting the system around creates chaos; and i honestly do not think the Devs will revamp the entire system that 'works fine'...

and i agree with Celorn :) thinking back to the times when we used to go relic-happy , capture all the relics and reap the 50 % bonus was one thing; but with a % cut --- it does take less focus off of the relic insanity but at the same time ; if a group of faction members decided to cap them all they can still benifit well from the allocated % .
