I do agree with Lorkar for the most part. The drops on the mobs in all of the planar areas should be fairly rare to keep people coming back to them. If they become common then parties will just run through to the bosses and ignore the mobs completely. The bosses are the hardest part of any run so drop rates on bosses should still be fairly consistant. (and they are, except perhaps Cheery) You should have something to look forward to after defeating a boss but everything else is just there to slow you down. Be glad we still get some gear and xp along the way.
There were some things I noticed in the new areas though. Some of the Dragons in Dragon Eyrie just drop seals. I haven't checked recently but the Seal Sabar dropped wasn't called Sabar's Seal and it didn't open up the second area. Sarek in Illithids only drops his hand and the main boss in Illithids didn't drop anything. The transition to the boss wasn't working then but still took the hand. The seals and hand are both important items but not really a worthy prize for defeating these difficult opponents. Kultach in Dragon Eyrie has some unique gear and so did one of the other Dragons. Hopefully these new areas will be finished up "soon" and the final touches added to them.
As always I appreciate all the hard work that goes into these areas and these areas have some wonderfull scripting in them. If you haven't checked them out I would suggest making a run through Illithids to see the new special effects. It may require failing a will save but it's worth it.
