Invisibility Purge

Post by MLoki »

This was the last post about Invisibility Purge.
- Attempt made to make invis purge do something. Remember, it's an AoE centered on caster, not a continuing aura.
From what I can tell it now removes all concealment (friends, foes and caster) including racial blur, class concealment, and even concealment due to darkness.

This spell wasn't used much before but is even less likely to be used now. Before this change I had seen players use this spell to get rid of Improved Invisiblity while retaining some other form of concealment for themselves.

Since this spell is not party friendly using it tends to bring some harsh words from your teammates and now since you can't even have some other form of concealment to back it up I believe this spell will become absolete to players.

Perhaps allowing this spell to only effect enemies would make it more usefull and you would see alot less concealment retained in PvP battles because of it. Which would also make spells like Improved Invisibility hold less importance.

That's the other edge of the Invisibility Purge sword.
It works that way for a reason, kind of like mutually assured destruction.

psst!...Try Displacement.

Psst! Old news.

It goes away too now. The recent change takes ALL concealment away. So only if you and your whole party are running around without any concealment of any kind would you ever consider casting this.

Has an SR check. Take the feats if it's that important to you ;)

Can you specify whether this includes the Feats ie. Self Concealment I-V?

Thanks.

Good question, though I've never seen invisibility purge take away either self conceal or the monk concealment.

does somebody actually take SC1-5? always seemed like a lot of feats for something you could get with a spell, or am i missing something?

FYI, I've been playing a svirf lately, and have yet to see his concealment dispelled by the usual mobs.

There's not too many mobs with Invis Purge. That will remove it, but you have SR.

I'm not trying to get the mobs that cast Invisibility Purge nerfed I was just trying to make it usefull for players. I have a Svirf Cleric that currently dispells his own Racial Blur if he casts Invis Purge.

So what Lokey is saying is that if you make a character that can't affect beat his own SR and hopefully still be able to affect somebody else then it might work sometimes.

Self Conceal may be the only thing that survives Invis Purge since it doesn't show up as a buff. You'll still piss of the rest of your party but at least you would still have concealment yourself.

I tested invis purge a wile ago now on a friends darkness it would remove the concealment the darkness gives for me as well as him. But the darkness itself wast not gone if I left the darkness and went back into it I would be concealed again but he would not as he could not leave it. There for if you don't have UV invis purge allows people to make you visible in your own darkness but still be concealed by it them selves.

Which strikes me as a bit wrong if you ask me.

Given that scenario, when you transition to another zone, it should reset his darkness...

Not to hijack the thread, but darkness was fixed before 1.69 so that the graphics would be maintained from zone to zone (and I think some other functionality). This has been reverted back to the 'ole way, where the darkness graphics disappear when you zone, even though the darkness is still in effect (other players see it, just not you). Any chance on getting the fix re-implemented?

No, the fix had to be reverted due to other issues.
