alright everyone knows clerics are overpowered but no one can decide on a nerf to make them less popular.

i suggest an ECL change. a +2 ECL i think would be fair and effective enough to reduce the amount of clerics in neversummer.

and for those of u who swear that clerics are weak and dont need any more nerfs (oh no, no more darkfire + greater magic weapon), i made a cleric myself who at lvl 10 was soloing giant caves. most classes can barely solo giant mountain let alone the caves even at lvl 13...and im suggesting just a +2 ECL. we need to slow down the cleric invasion somehow :x

Hrm I think the dev planned requirement for Domains and factions being tied together would be a step in the right direction as there are really only a handfull of cleric builds running around right now, its only how they are applied that makes any (in)significant differance.

I think also that perhaps a delay in effect of casting might be interesting, they cast whatever spell they want, drop to their knees to worship (praying to their gods to allow the divine engergy to flow through them) then the spell fires with the original action delay included.

Might make things more interesting to have to go completely flat footed for a round prior to casting.

Prayer for spells is usually done first thing in the morning. It is supposed to take 1 turn of prayer/meditation/study per spell level for casters to get their spells. I guess thats one of the advantages of charisma based spontaneous casting, no lengthy period spent each day to aquire spells.

The concept of praying for a round in the middle of combat is not good at all. Besides, what god with at least half a brain would make his most favoured servants risk severe injury and death every time they wanted to cast a spell.

Imagine fighting a two weapon rogue and having to go flat footed for a round to cast a spell? Thats 6-7 free sneak attacks while praying followed by an additional 1 or 2 while casting. It is also a round and a half of concentration checks to avoid interruption. It also pretty much negates the effect of quicken spell for clerics.

I would like to see the stats on how many clerics there are vs how many multi class clerics there are. What about the other classes all those clerics you see have taken? The main advantage clerics have over a lot of other classes is clerics are good as a single class as well as being an effective class to merge with others.
