Gold economy

Post by Takashi »

It would be cool if we could shift the endgame economy back to where gold is used for trade. Right now rare items can only be had for other rare items most of the time. It seems like more fun to me to make the standard coin the unit of currency.

In order to do this, gold needs to be less plentiful and/or more desireable to high level players.

Adding gold sinks and high ticket items could help do this. Give the level 40 players a reason to want alot of gold. The only goldsink i can think of is the ferry system, and the price is only exclusive to very low level players.

Anyway im sure you see what im getting at. Just a thought

We are agreed that there needs to be more gold sinks however and have several ideas towards that end. Also, a 20% gold tax may soon be implemented every time you log in.

Hope you're not serious.

With all the relic-raiding and potion-draining (especially my shifter) I have a hard time keeping my high-level characters solvent.

as chase said, this was discussed already -- it is fine -- the market is fine ...and if anything will become better especially in the dye for gold market now that everyone can customize their own cloaks :)

Trade is as it should be. Even if gold would be more hard to get, I wouldn't want to trade a hard won item for it. Remember before there were coins people would trade items for other stuff :).

Please say you are joking about the login tax. That would be quite unfair to people whose system is slightly tipsy, as crashes would count as leaving and you would get hit with another tax when you try to log back in.

Just instakill everyone on login so they have to respawn. Then if you crashed, there's a 99% chance you died anyway (why did they decide ~3 weeks was a reasonable connection timeout?) so it won't massively affect you.

Well in collectible card games you trade one rae for another.
But you spend cash to the the booster pack in hopes of getting a rae worth trading.

So the cash is used to get you places, buy your heals and in the future maybe more consumables or money sinks.

I always hated games that my character was poor all the time.
And if you have too much money use it to feed the poor newbies that are pulled into our realm shivering and naked.

I know! It sucks being poor, I'm poor in nearly all the games I play  . Most gold I ever had on a character was, 700k. Never even had a 1 mil gold before :( .
