Relic reset

Post by Go'f »

What if the relics did not reset to the home (rewards) cradle but instead to some fixed location within the respective factions rift nexus, or the plane it connects to... you only need to tag the Relic in its epic location to send it to your own cradle so as to remove the problem of people carrying relics into the planes to park them out of reach.

As far as I know get caught taking relics to planes could get you into some serious trouble with DM's. Planes is suppose to be an off-limits area for relics

Its true. Reason being that you cannot take a relic to anyarea that all players 1-40 may not reach.

Unless it has changed. If you tried to enter a nexus or planer area the relic would automatically go back to the home cradle, and an announcement would go out on shout channel about that individual going out of bounds with the relic or something along that line.

That is the idea. Is it not working?

I'm fine with the way it is. Sometimes I'll drop a relic before reset so it'll go back to it's city because I don't really want it.

no, my suggestion was for a change so that that if a relic was dropped and not recovered a cradle then it would reset to a planar relic resting spot, you would simply have to tag the planar container for it to come to your non planar cradle... this would effect 'lost in the wild' relics, dm relic system resets and relic runs that fail to complete before a server reset catches you short.

I don't advocate the relics are able to be carried anywhere they are not able to at present, I simply suggest the default is not that you have your own relic if you do nothing to obtain it. You should have to pluck it from the plane your faction is most affiliated with.

It's a new idea not a complaint it don't work as is, so yes it would mean changing some stuff

ohh i see what ya mean. You want a Planar switch that would reset a loose relic back to its home cradle? That would be kinda cool i guess. I could already see a lot of room for exploiting though.
e.g. Toon A recovers own factions relic from opposing faction whilst Toon B waits by Planar switch. Toon A drops relic, Toon B hits switch, relic is home. Server crys, Dms and Devs rage, Swtiches are taken away.

Bah, I like that you're able to hide relics. That means the respective faction has to know Aetheria to hunt it down. Duergar home anyone? :)

I'm not sure I like this idea either. Level 16-19 can also raid relics (when no epic npc defenders are around). While relic raiding is mostly a high level sport, there's no sense in making it mandatory.

Yawn.

Have we not talked about this a million times before? I don't really see any new ideas in this version of the 'auto return' suggestion.

You forget that I find hiding relics to be good sport. The diviners are there for this kind of thing. I suggest you run off your 'holiday' paunchs by finding them.

Cely, you raise a good point, maybe those alternative homes should just be a location on the mainland, perhaps a fully randomised system of 20+ or so locations so in the event of a full Relic system reset, Relic run or too-well-hiden relic during a reset you need to go find it

Kirg, you would still be able to hide them for the same duration a hide works in the present system.

Alkapwn, not quite what I ment. The home of a relic would not be it's cradle but the resting spot, a relic 'lost in the wild' is still lost in the wild, it would move back to its 'home' (rather than cradle) on a reset.

What this system would do is remove the default location of a relic to be its home faction cradle, that is all not change the current drop rules.

How good would raiders of the lost arc be if indiana jones started the film with the arc, or monty pythons holy grail if monty had the grail at the begining.
