Ghostly vissage and Ethereal vissage

was thinking that these spells could use some improvements with levels i know ethereal has bonuses with illusion focus however it still remains rather useless after hitting epic levels where the DR becomes obsolete so i suggest the following bonuses based on caster levels

Ghostly

lvl 1-7 = 5/+1

lvl 8-14 = 5/+2

lvl 15+ = 5/+3

Ethereal

lvl 11-20 = 20/+3

lvl 21-30 = 20/+4

lvl 31+ = 20/+5


this would give these spells a bit more use ( particularly for bards as its their only DR spells ) the increased conceal remains with the illusion SF feats

the same can be done with the Stone Skin spell but most classes that have SS have better DR spells at higher levels already so i leave that up to you devs

Ghostly change might be reasonable. Never had any feedback on ether change from a while back.

From changelog:

Ethereal Visage
Current
DR 20/3
25% conceal
1 round/level
SF Illusion – 30% conceal
GF Illusion – 35% conceal
EF Illusion – 40% conceal DR 20/4 2 rounds/level

my reasoning is that its the bards only DR spell and by the time you get ethereal to a duration of any length its useless the added conseal is nice but with imp invis its moot so the only quality thats worthwhile is the DR and that becomes useless in epic levels as nearly all mobs have a +3 or better equivalent weapon damage

while its true most bards will use UMD for premonition or other scrolls but you cant always have thoes scrolls handy and making the DR adjust with levels will fix this even with the changes you made already 20/+4 relay doesent cut it IMO making it go to max of 20/+5 will at least make it somewhat useful but not overpowered

we all appreciate all that you do to make spells more fitting with the server the modified blade thirst was a godsend for rangers this would just be another modification that makes the base spell fit our server.

If we were to give Bards functional DR outside of racial or feat choices, we'd have to scale them back in some other area, such as their song which grants substantial bonuses to AC, Saves, AB and Skill, or scaling back the offensive power of Dirge, the buffing goodness with Warcry, or something else.

Also don't forget, that those spells still grant usefull low level spell immunities which people rarely take advantage of.

The fact is, Bard's are very powerful, and to give them a boon in one area, we'd have to consider subtracting from somewhere else.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

i suggest reducing the granted dr, and increasing the amount needed to bypass it (or make it altogether unbypass-able by ordinary weapons).

so like dr 2/+10 thru dr 10/+10 at the top end for ethereal. pure fighter would still cut through it.

that way it's always handy, but not quite what a wizard can get (or a bard could get through scrolls). remember these spells are useful for builds other than bard!
