most crashes (like the one that happend 10 mins ago) are due to druids / shifters dying while in their shifted form.

Personally, id make the druid / shifter class unavail. until they nail a fix down. (But seeing as how its been what..6 + months since this issue came up and still no fix?) i woudlnt count on anything being done. its "unfair" to the players who want to play or have druids / shifters.

never mind the fairness to the rest of the server base.. druids come first ya know

I'm not sure if anyone would care that much about server crashes if nothing was lost. But players do lose stuff - XPs, gear, levels, gold and location. So I guess a question I have concerns how the database is setup, because I get inconsistent results following a crash. Sometimes I lose very few XPs and other times I lose a lot. Sometime my location is saved and sometimes not.

Is the database running on the NWN server? What it saved and when? When are updates actually comitted? Knowing these details might help us avoid such large losses should no fix ever be implemented.

i have solution..play the free server and be happy . if you lose something them youll have something to work towards. if you get something new rest and logg out.
im locking this because i am a power hungry dm on a power trip
have a nice day

Rest and relog alot. This will help you to save alot of that hard earned EXP and items.

i have an idea.... start charging, i would rather pay 10 bucks a month and have concerns heard then be shot down all the time and have it be a free server.

^ lol dont mind me....

Agreed... relogging or server reset is the only way I know to save my character... dying might save too.

Using the book and even resting doesn't really seem to do much at all in my experience. Perhaps it should be changed to say something like this when you rest or use the book.
