What are everyone's favorite things in NS3.5?

Post by Apokriphos »

I've been wondering about this for a while. Although I mostly play in NS4, I have been visiting 3.5 a lot of late and find it very appealing. I don't have too much experience in the 3.5 servers as of yet, but as a whole I feel most of it is quite different to NS4.

As an effort to improve my own understanding of all things 3.5, what features in NS3.5 do you like best and why?

I like undermountain, mad baggins, the pirate area in falme and the 3.5 underdark, they are pretty cool. I also like the giant mountain maps setup for its size and layout. And Darken Rahl. last but not least the crazy gnome( cant recall the name).

hehehe well since the topic was brought up --

recalling the epic server wipe nearly 2 years ago on ns4 , i found myself along with many other ns4 players stranded in a world some of us have never been ... and to be presented with +8 epic weapons at level 1 , i nearly [excrimented] myself !

ahh good times ; short -- but good times indeed... got myself to level 23 :)

I like doing DWP with a duo. i like that the mod lends itself to being mastered through experience. i like building the -exactly- perfect toon to solo ice shield, ns gaunts, etc. Not because I don't want to interact with people--actually, the people are the best part of this and any other server. More that building toons to solo hard areas is an interesting exercise of the accumulated knowledge. Usually, I'd build a toon for an area, get it to lvl 40, gear it up, test it in the area for which i'd designed it, then retire it. After all, the toons you actually on a daily basis play are the ones that are great in parties. I had kick-[censored] solo toons designed for every possible solo run (for the intellectual challenge), but the ones I actually played were bards for groups and clerics for EC runs.

I like that my best netfriend after all these years is still another NS DM--Dm Torrent. We chat off and on all week. That says a lot about the kind of community NS fosters.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

i love the fact that even after playing for a long time(off and on)i still find new things every now and again. i dont know if this is because Im an idiot but i suspect its because the game is great.

this months finds were the sword of the mountains and elemental gear, i thought elemental flame was only used on the dragon weapon quest.......i take it back it is because im stupid. :)

The fun is in surprising everyone and keeping them on their toes - never know when something never seen before is going to pop up.

I'd agree with all the above. Yes all of them. Part of why I've stuck around all this time. I consider my game time a premium and the last thing I need is a '2nd job' building a character over the course of months or years. (Try an RP server if you haven't already, yes I mean YEARS  It took three months to break lvl 7 on one, and that was with bonus XP for RP)

OK I guess the favorite thing is that I can build something in a short time and test it out without a HUGE time investment. And the people you get to run with all the way up that EC hill and beyond ;)

The exciting part of 3.5 for me (and the reason i eventually left) was the challenge of solo'n everything. It starts with G1, and ends with XI FU or DWP depending. Took about 25 40's to figure out how to solo all the bosses but it was a fun challenge. High magic and fast lvling, it was a total blast.
