Avlis is part of CoPaP which is roleplay. We certainly used some Avlis and especially Abyss404 ideas, and would welcome more good ideas if we had the devs to do them (can always talk about them, never know what might be easier to do than it seems) ;)

It's pretty simple. What is described is for the most part not why DMs are unhappy with this group, which is par for the course. While some of the arguments used are ok (we don't really care how you have fun in NS as long as it doesn't affect the fun of others), some are pretty dumb: I paid good money for the game too, why can't I dm kill everyone I want? :)

Then why are you unhappy with the group. Put it out there so there are no ambigious statements or tones. Don't beat around the bush.

I'm a bit frustrated with DM's today. I ask for a guild event on the anniversary of our guild and the only response I got was "that might seem like playing favorites, but I'll ask the rest of the team". This kind of event has been done for other guilds before. What are the DMs so tied up doing that they can't make time on the server for making playing more fun, but they can make time to play their own toons and (from the sounds of it) mess with other players that were not disrupting server play. I would encourage a DM to please contact me about attempting to schedule the event I ask for or at the very least discuss why it won't occur.
Thank you for your time.

I brought up what I thought was a good idea a while back that got shot down out of hand. After that I pretty much gave up...
I put the IO in socIOpath!

Back to original post.

One of my alt toons was the targeted RK toon. I left because not only did i get spammed with tells full of what I consider abuse and people repeatedly asking where the relic was, but I was hunted down and killed for the same reason as far as I know. What I don't understand is how he knew where I was to effect that PK. I was and still am to a certain extent angry that I was put in that position. I have considered completely removing myself from Aetheria. I was roughly used and feel that certain people don't want everyone to play an honest game. Granted, I was rewarded for helping the DM's. However, that reward wasn't worth the stuff I went thru. DM's wanna take that reward away, go for it. I don't care.

I really like the Mod. I wish I could run in the mod, play in parties and get characters to 40. I don't like pvp and never have. But I have not found a mod that has been developed as well as this one. While I understand that pvp is part of the game here, what goes on is not true pvp. I do not like being hunted, whether it's for wearing a tag or helping DMs. And IMO, a level 40 beating down a level 25 is no where close to fair play. Especially when it is done after a long battle and my character has no way to defend herself. Don't try telling me life isn't fair. This isn't life, I know it's a game.

I have to agree with Cahaal and Glow has said it many a times. There is little clarity to what we can and cannot do. I even approached a DM about this, considering the DMG (Dungeon Masters Guide) says the MOST important part of DMing is to be CONSISTENT! There is a huge lack of consistency in NS4 between the DMS, the DMs response? "Are you looking for a ban?" "Uh. . . no I just dont understand" "Oh well I dont like your tone!" MY TONE?!?!?!?!?! Its typing, there is a lack of tone in text. . . I know some barriers of that can be bent with CAPS TYPING. For the record all my sentences were proper english with possible lack of caps at beginning and lack of punctuation at the end.

This is a huge problem when if DM A is on and they dont care if I buff up my level 3 and run around the mountain. But DM B will fill my inventory with useless flowers (which must be dropped, which goes against an NS4 commandment) without even so much as a word. . . so not only am I stuck dropping a couple thousand flowers I dont even know what DM has that problem. Which if I even had a way to figure out what DM was on so that I could avoid having that happen again.

Im going to end with just 1 more point because I could go on and on about it. Everywhere its posted its the "NS4 Commandments" not "NS4 Player Commandments". Taking the relic and bugging it and hiding it for 2 and a half hours through DM powers should be WAY out of the rules. Thats disruptive to the community and disruptive to specific players, like dragongrams who got hunted because Kim had her panties in a twist.

That's exactly correct Tep. The diviner would not reveal a valid location. And it seems that was exactly the intent of the DM who was participating at the time. Two things give me that impression. The DM choose to not restore the relic. Two, the DM was enjoying quite a bit of shouting and taunting of the players.

FYI. I wasn't actually involved. I logged on late Friday to spend a little time relaxing. Instead, I find that all of my friends are being harassed and taunted by a DM toon. Some were so frustrated that they didn't really care if they're replies would get them banned. My priority at the time was to relax a bit. So I simply logged off and did something else with my time. That is not the type of server I want to play on. I want a staff that is at a minimum respectful and helpful or invisible. Ideally it would be nice if they simply spent time trying to make the game play more fun. Instead they seem find ways to make it less fun. I guess that makes it more fun for them. For example if they wanted they could have reset the relics and then spawned Epics in every other relic cradle. Simple and effective. And fun. Bugging a relic then taunting the players is not fun or effective.

I personally have a hard time of getting my questions answered by staff. The harder the question the more likely it is to get locked or ignored. For example, I try to get clarification on a rule and get told "End of discussion". (as if you are my mother. - nice.)

Police Officers go to training so that they don't act that way. The reason for this is because THaT attitude (from someone in a position of authority) constantly creates hostile situations from ones that would NoT normally be hostile. There is not point in creating a hostile situation unless that person in the authority position gains personal satisfaction from knowing that they can always win any argument through intimidation or force once their persuasion and logic fail.

It has amused me how many times I see the DM's ask for and/or demand respect. The real life managers that work for me are told that simply having a position of authority will NOT gain you respect. In fact, if you abuse your position you will lose it rapidly. You can demand respect and thus receive "false" respect but it will always be accompanied by resentment which will betray you at the most critical time. The best way to gain genuine respect is to first treat them with respect. Be helpful and kind as often as possible and when someone is doing something that you don't like kindly and clearly explain what it is that you don't like and exactly why you don't want them to do that. Since you already have their respect then 99% of the time you won't have to ask again. Don't interpret "authority" as justification to rude and disrespectful. Ever. - But that is only a way to get real world results.

I guess here on NS4, it would probably be better just to continue being inconsistent, continue harassing players and continue banning them if they are disrespectful in return. Seems like a good approach and its a big plus that you seem very committed to it.

I've said before that I appreciate and genuinely like the staff here at NS4 but I feel that you are taking the wrong with your issue resolution tactics. If you have a specific problem with certain players or specific behaviours then clearly state (openly or privately) what it is that they are doing that you don't like. We'll either change it or go play something else. Dealing with your staff in the current manner is not the positive environment that anyone actively seeks for their enjoyment.

Don't bother looking for me in game for a while.

Best,

from what i gather from the staff that was on....the relic bug was an unintentional side effect of a relic test. want to know more? we're locking illithids from the relics. the diviner said it was in sleeth...it was in garagoth.

also from what i gather small clues were attempted to be given to the players as to where to look, but in their enraged state no one really cared about what was actually happening and only focused on what they thought was happening.

players were already frustrated from an earlier run in. combined with the crack loving drive of having to own the relic it pushed them into a fervor with made them lash out at another player. one of their own players who had volunteered to help with the test. at this point...i can promise you that the staff could care less if you had the relic. once the players became supremely hostile to everything because they didn't get what they wanted....help pretty much stops.

in this thread players have been questioning tactics used by staff and have admitted to using tactics openly not condoned by staff or other players..but because they weren't by other players they don't feel they should have to do the right thing.

this is the last post in this thread, for once i am publicly airing out certain details not readily available to players. if anyone would like to further discuss this send me pm's or email me. i'm always available to answer questions. just be warned my answers aren't always the ones wanted.
