Dragon Fear question
Dragon Fear question
So, I realized today that while the 30 RDD dragon fear is set to 35, the Shifter Dragon fear wasn't touched?
30 RDD levels dedicated to being a dragon, and the class that can be dragon among all the other things gets to keep the 49+ saves? This just doesn't seem right to me.

Re: Dragon Fear question
You realize it takes 30 wisdom and being pure druid and shifter to get that form, yes? While I agree that it shouldn't be as high as it is right now (maybe 40 DC?), a shifter dragon requires a lot more to build and still do everything that an RDD dragon can do.
I have always imagined that when shamed prepares for relic events, he grabs his bull horn, he finds his Napoleon hat, and he settles in for a weekend of barking orders and generally pissing off everyone in the tc/nc coalition. - Burrahobbit
Re: Dragon Fear question
It requires that to get Dragon form and all the others. RDD gets just the dragon form, in the dragon faction, with bard or sorc required to prove they have dragon blood.
Just seems like that should make a scarier dragon.

Re: Dragon Fear question
It took me a wisdom +4 tome and some greater wisdom to get that high. And yes at lvl40 I might end at dc50. Then again, this has been in for quite some time. I wonder why it is suddenly an issue?
Oh, yes, look at all those dwarfs running away.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Re: Dragon Fear question
RDD gets dragonshape that he wasnt suposed to get in the first place. Without any wisdom requirement and free without taking a feat. And you complain about his aura being weaker then shifter one? I suggest shifter loses fear aura and RDD loses dragonshape. How about that?Rainswept wrote:Because apparently fear that level is overpowered... um but only for AO.Nyeleni wrote: this has been in for quite some time. I wonder why it is suddenly an issue?

Re: Dragon Fear question
I'm just not understanding why it's an overpowered ability for one group, but fine for another. I'm not saying "nerf shifter" and I'm not saying "Give AO its fear back" I'm asking the question why this ability is so awful as to need nerfed in AO, but fine for shifters.Daltian wrote:RDD gets dragonshape that he wasnt suposed to get in the first place. I'd think that's what forums are for, to discuss this stuff and get player feedback.

Re: Dragon Fear question
RDD dragon has different strenghts then shifter one. Do you really expect to have best of both worlds? And at discount price even?Rainswept wrote:I'm just not understanding why it's an overpowered ability for one group, but fine for another. Assuming you arent just posting because you're frustrated and want others to be nerfed or 'your builds' buffed again I'll try to explain.Rainswept wrote:

It's important to look at more than just 1 ability when you are comparing things.
It's impossible to simply say Shifter fear aura can get up to 50 DC, so RDD dragon aura must be too.
They're different classes, different builds, different mechanics. One uses Wisdom , One is just a free extra aura you get with nothing invested in it.
Besides that as someone mentioned already, for shifters, the shifting is the whole idea its what they do and have to be good at. The Dragon shifter got an extra fun thing with the fear aura.
RDD already have all their own special things, they got something more added in the form of the dragonshape.
I dont think the dragon RDD fear aura got changed because the DC was so high it was unacceptable by itself, but more the combination of all the other advantages of the dragon shape, together with a fear aura made it too strong which was unintended.
DC's with 30+ ability mod by itself are nothing strange, theres a couple of them, like the PDK fear, Harper scout sleep. You can get a decent DC with it, but by itself thats no prob.
Thats at least how i see it, and since you wanted a player discussion, I hope this helps some

And please dont see the server in 'groups' changes like this depend on class balance etc it has nothing to do with who plays what.
