I'm getting "GameSpy disconnected" is this the same for anyone else?

I get 'cannot connect to master server, some multiplayer services may not be available'. If you do it from the game main menu, you can see NS4 fine. If you use a desktop icon to prime.ns4.simplifiedservers.com then it times out on the server completely.

Edit: Within 10 secs of posting this message, all seems just fine

Been seeing trouble with GameSpy all weekend long. That might explain some of the extreme lag we've been experiencing'

So you mean to tell me that these are NS issues and not gamespy issues?

Cuz uhhh I always get those messages but I just go to my history and connect via that way. I thought that was a gamespy issue . . .

How do I fix it?

I get the "cannot conect etc...bs" about once every two weeks and it ussually last for an hour or more, I just click ok and hit direct connect like I normally would.. I always go direct IP conect for minimal lag.

There are (or atleast used to be) some serious issues with the "cannot connect to master server" report from gamespy. If linux or lokey or someone wants to PM me about the exploits possible from that then I would be happy to share the info I have, elsewise that problem has already been basically taken care of.

We don't use the server-side master server stuff because the master server goes down a lot.

MP server info comes from the servers anyway. Gamespy is involved somewhere, but once you're on the server it's all client -> whatever internet issues between you and server -> server. Bioware master server is only account verification, the timeout is like 10 seconds if it doesn't get an answer from there and mp account security is non-existent.

Lag can have a lot of causes, and if we know things are dodgy we can throw some tools at it and figure out what's going on.

Still need to know what extreme lag is and when it shows up. (This past weekend...the main apps were probably up for longer than a windows app should be left running. Not sure when the last full restart was.)

I saw that over the weekend, tis just a gamespy thing that happens from time to time, used to happen more often.
