Defender of the Relic event

Post by TheEdge »

It has come to around that time to run another Defender of the Relic event. :D This post is just to get some player feedback on prefered playing times as well as structure. Please feel free to cast your vote as well as add your own peice of input. Keep in mind that your votes and opinions will help in deciding exactly how this event will fold out but the final decision will be up to the staff. :D

Please refrain from using this thread as a place to question rules and/or playing guidlines. I will be placing a separate post to discuss these issues.

I like the heats.

It makes it easier to schedule time, the action is much much more fast and furious. There is a desperation to the heats, while the longer periods of time are broken up into brief flurries that leave you hoping you can be present.

Additionally the heats allow for there to be DM's present. Every event prior to that there were accusations by all sides that someone was cheating. Well not the first one that RK won, but every event since it seems there has been people on all sides pointing fingers. While the events themselves will continue to have controversies as people develop new strategies or factions support one against the other, having a DM around to at the very least say "play on" or to "slap hands" gives a feeling of at least some "Stability."

I concur and feel it should be a requirement for events like this. Can't wait for that other thread

I voted that I am the best, but I really just didn't have an opinion... other than my opinion of me being the best.

The Euro players only left one heat out. The other two were ok. The Aussies might have some issues with the old schedule tho.

I voted 3 heats in the hopes that MAMBA wont be able to participate............

Just kiddin. I voted 3 heats, oddly enough for the same reason as mamba. My schedule is strange these days and with set times i can work around it to show up.

I missed the last one which is probably why NC won. Sry folks, I'm playing this time so NC/TC will again be at a huge disadvantage, not only because of me, but also because NC doesnt have rogues. Right frog?

I voted three heats. May be three heats in three days may be better than three heats in two. :|

I like Tsavong's thinking on this....

Why not 6 heats in 3 days?..... The idea of heats are great but it doesn't mean we can only do 3.

We could even do 2 or 3 heats per day for a week to bring back the old feel of things.. :D

A lot of options with the heats.... just need to pick one for this next relic event and then we can do a different option for the following.... :P

My euros had a hard time and only a couple were able to play at the times it was scheduled. Considering about half of my guild is european, I ask that they be considered in the schedule. Yes some did play during the last one but most could not make it.

I like the heats, but agree we should do more heats over more days.

Heats - 3 days max, because i get bored easily. Where do I vote for rogues in NC, since you brought it up?
Three years of nursery school and you think you know it all.

I'm a Euro (feels weird saying that), last time round I could have been at 2 of the 3 events but only made one because it was a Saturday and that means I go out in the evenings so missed the second. In case you don't know Tsavong is a Euro too and he made all three (though I suspect he has some kind of sleep disorder).

I thought the times were set because of DM availability though.

Anyway been looking for an excuse to come back and dust off my toons and a good relic war or (my personal favourite) a server reset seem to be the only options.

p.s Anyone in MA want some books send me a pm (I can't get on IRC at the moment)
