Wood Elf and martial crafters
The spear and Iron quarter staff are bugged, can't sell them, equip them and it costs nothing to craft them. It says they are not in the blueprint or something like that
The wood elf and wild elf confuse me as far as bonuses go.
Wood Elf
* Favored Class: Ranger
* +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma, -2 Constitution
* +2 Animal Empathy, +2 Set Traps, +2 Search
Wild elf
* Favored Class: Druid
* +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma
* +2 Hide, +2 Move Silently, +2 Spot
Elves are pretty races, they should not lose two to charisma, -2 to int makes sense for wild elf since they receive no schooling, however the wood elf is like the warrior caste of the elves. -2 con makes sense for wood elf.
The skills are backwards, Wood elf should receive hide and Move silently spot, and search, maybe even set trap. Wild elf should receive animal emp, spell craft, concentration.

The races work as is, deal with it.
As for pretty races...

As for skills being backwards, why would the warrior caste have bonuses to hide/ms? (to follow your semi-deluded rp). Anyway, its not significantly boosted to make any difference whatsoever.

They are pretty enough to populate the world with half-elves and still hold to their xenophobic lifestyle and hidden treetop villages. Down with them all!
If a wild elf/wood elf bard sings in the forest, is there anyone there to hear it?
mmmmmm wood elf paladin with char +2 ecl 0 (Homer Drool)

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
idk, I've never liked the bonuses for wood elves. They just don't add up to anything worth a darn. You're better off goin wild elf. It would make sense and make them more attractive as a race if they didn't have a subtraction from constitution. If you removed the intel penalty, I think they'd at least require an increase to their ECL. I think I'd love the race if they didn't have an intel penalty or didn't have a con penalty. Be a nice counter to teiflings.

Sun Elf and Drow both have Int increases.The skills are backwards, Wood elf should receive hide and Move silently spot, and search, maybe even set trap. Wild elf should receive animal emp, spell craft, concentration.
Wood and Wild elf make excellent crafter races and have way more pvp applications then any other ecl 0 race.
Aasamir?Be a nice counter to teiflings.

If i make a ranger i would never go with wood elf. it doesn't fit in. I would go wild elf. Druid the favored class of wild elf doesn't even get hide/ms/spot as class skills. (maybe shifter does idk, but that wouldn't make sense since races don't go towards prc's they go towards base classes.)
An elven warrior caste would have bonuses to hide/ms. Because that's how they work. Do you read fantasy?
i agree there is no significant boosts. but +2 hide/ms is still plus 2 that you didn't have before. I say change it for the simple fact of, there is no reason to pick wood elf if ur going ranger, since wild elf does it better. The +2 wis u save from going wild elf u can put 2 more into str and balance it out. It really has no benefit after 40 since the only way it would help would be by lvling up. But i am a perfectionist.
I wouldn't mind adding an ecl too.
also drow and moon elf get +2 added to their int true. But wood elf/wild elf get -2. not asking for +2 just no added or minus' to the int.
Btw mining that pic of an elf is ugly....just saying :p

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
Basically, only a few races are mainstream pvp worthy.
A

* Gold Dwarf - meh.
H

K
* Kender - Decent.
L
* Lightfoot Halfling - acceptable. One of the best base races.
* Lorekeeper Dwarf - Reasonable as a caster.
M

* Wood elf base land speed is 30 feet.
* Immunity to magic sleep effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects.

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
You underestimated several races but wild elf the most of all.
There are many more uses for it then standard shifter, druid and AA. If you are making non divine might/shield CoT it becomes one of top choices. I am actually surprised ot is ECL0.

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
Remember that stereotype of PnP D&D... a bunch of kids sitting in a basement, drinking Mountain Dew, argueing for hours straight trying to justify to their DM why they should be able to this or that... yeah.
The beauty of NWN in general to me is that it removed all this banter and sped up the gameplay. You can play NWN for 15 minutes and acheive more than 4 hours of PnP. I hate to fall back to this again, but Twiggy, you need to consider the widespread implications of your suggestions. Changing a race's stats may invalidate many existing characters and would definately change the thinking/use behind them. Remember the other threads with your 'suggestions'... the underlying responses have been that you should learn to use the structuure of the game as it is in order to compete with the existing community. You can't go to a track meet and argue that the shotput is too heavy and should be reduced by a lb because you are smaller than the other competitors. Why would you come to NS and do the same?

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
Yeah, I underestimated a ton of races, normally because if its second best in most scenarios, its crap. Svirnefblin is arguably equivalent for CoT, if not better.

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
Half Elf - Give them Keen Senses and Quick to Master since they are the hybrid of both human and elf... maybe just a + to Cha just to make for some interesting charisma builds, negative to Con/Str as elf.
Wild Elf - wow, you underestimated that race big time. I would place that as third on the list of most powerful considering its diversity ecl/stats and being an elf.

Re: Wood Elf and martial crafters
Wood Elf has some uses as a str based spotter. I don't mind it too much, but with more negatives than positives to abilities, it does make it limited to builds that aren't demanding of ability points.
I would actually really like it if it was made more like the SRD one that mining posted. +2 str +2 dex -2 con -2 int (remove the -2 cha). As of right now EVERY race with a strength bonus also has -2 cha, so trying to make a str build that needs charisma is awkward, and str builds already have a lot of things working against them on this server. I don't know if anyone posting here would be as happy with the change as I would be, seeing as most people use charisma as a dump stat, but I could probably find some uses for the race if that was changed.
And twiggy, you talk about role play a lot, but wanting a race to be better for its favored class than another race is not role play, that is power-gaming. Even so, there are power-gaming reasons to use wood elf as a ranger build. Right now the main one would be so you can use the dex modifier to get enough dex to wear light armor or robes and fill out the dex modifier so you can still be str based and take advantage of ranger dual wielding without losing any AC. It is also a good choice if you are trying to do some sort of str/dex hybrid and don't have access to Githyanki or want to spot. Even still, it isn't usually the best race to use, but it is ecl 0.

Small note.. a reduction to Chr, is not necessarly saying that your less attactive physically. It can also indicate a lack of people skills. The Wild and Wood elf being more solitary simply havent had the need to develop those skills.
