Fury Fight Club - Guild Wars

Fury Fight Club - Guild Wars

1. No whining!
2. See # 1

Rules
Can’t leave battle map during the fight
No respawn till battle finished
No double log
No healing pots/no kits/ – (magical items are ok – exception- scrolls) Any toon may carry and use 1 heal scroll and 1 GR scroll per fight
Pre registration of team members with team name
No buffing from outside the team
Teams bracketed for double elimination
No toon can be on two different teams
If a player has more than one toon in the quarterfinals he/she must choose. The team that loses a player because of that choice may choose any other guild toon that has been eliminated from the tourney to on to fill the opening.

Each fight lasts a maximum of 20 min.

The team with the most kills wins, Winners advance / losers go to fight backs
Ties – if a tie team captains duke it out for max ten minutes… still a tie both teams lose.

Qualifications
-Guild leaders determine how their guild teams are created (Fury is will likely hold a internal fight club to determine team members – it is suggested other guilds follow suit – but hey – we don’t really care how you chose your team members) exception – the 6 guildless teams – are determined by first come first serve basis (with preferences given to teams with players that don’t have a toon in a guild)
-3 person teams
-3 teams per guild (exception: there will be 6 “no guild” teams)
-All team players must be members of the same guild (exception: 6 open slots for “no guild” teams)
-No guild team members cannot belong to their guild
-Will take registration up to a week before the day of the event

Entry Fee… ????

Prize
-its all about the braggin rights! For the week/month?? following the tourney when anyone shouts: What team rules?
All tourney members …must reply the winners names

IMPORTANT!

Fury fight club is designed to be a spectator fight. By this we mean that all competitions be held where spectators can watch (away from battle) the other teams fight one another. This event is also designed to bring many new and old players together. It is further designed for everyone to see famous retired and current toons fight together against other famous and current toons…it should be awesome!!! (imagine watching 6 of the toughest toons on the server tryin to kill one another….IT WILL BE EPIC!!)

We welcome all positive input

at you service,
Delisha, Higgy, Mord
My attitude toward men who mess around is simple: If you find 'em, kill 'em!

Team Hogre will be making a showing.

what map will be used? I suppose the arena is the obvious answer, but some builds benefit from being in wilderness areas or areas with a lot of obstructions or few obstructions.

I think we had a whole mega-thread about this the last time around, probably for the PWnD tourney? I think people were arguing about it until the very end, because you're right, any given terrain will always benefit some toons over others. Even a "balanced" map simply favors the toons that require balanced maps.

3 player teams is interesting. It's very small, so it requires a very careful balance of support vs. solo toons. I.e. if you have bard + cleric, only have room for 1 pure melee/dmg/mage/tank/etc.

What if no toons from that guild have been eliminated thus far?

ohh another thought..even with a modest turn out, we could be talking many hours. [we should take side bets on number of blood stains at end]

I think the 20 minute timer is appropriate.. and likly most matches will be far less.. unless its a band of sd's vrs pm's, or dwd that cant spot.......

point was, the duration could exclude some players, might be necessary/fair to do the finals ir even quarter finals on a following date. The number of teams who sign up to begin with should give good indication.

ohh one more thought with a 3 toon team, allowing unlimited cure crits from rings of healing and a heal scroll and grt restore scroll use, per toon. Makes that 20 minute timer a reality. I would sugest restrict it to casted cures/heals/grt restore. But will defer to popular opion or Delisha Dominatrix Decision.

The matches will likely be over very fast. A while back TC/NC did a 5v5 against AO/RK in the arena, and it was finished in just over a minute. It is certainly possible to draw a fight out longer, but I would expect to see some quick finishes.

This. Really the only way I see it going much longer is if both sides are either a) nervous as hell and refuse to attack or b) choose very, very tanky compositions with no damage. Doing b) would clearly be a mistake, but just because something is a mistake doesn't mean people won't do it.

Practical considerations, from a player perspective. Do not give this any weight beyond brief considerations

How large? Kiting, harrassment can all be very powerful, especially by all day builds with monk levels / access to hastes vs stuff like casters. An example: X/cleric/SD with travel/trickery should be able to wear down a party forever by just kiting around the outskirts.

How much terrain? Terrain features in moderation (i.e. Arena in Avendell) favours mages and other fixed piece artillery, heavy terrain (i.e. tunnels) favour sneaks and hasteless toons, light terrain/no terrain (Dark Forest // Sleeth Arena) favour monks and melee builds with haste.
Arena is probably the fairest.

Perhaps you'd need to be able to consider teams better? 42 teams for consideration is a hell of a lot. I like the idea of this done regularly - it provides an interesting counterpoint to relic PVP, which is often all about toon reliability as opposed to potential.

there is no way there would actually be enough people involved to make 42 teams, that is 126 characters. That would only happen if the server was full, everyone was involved, and each person played 3 characters.

I'd estimate more like 6 teams. In this case a double-elimination round-robbin tournament of sorts would be best.

I'd say we could see as many as 16 teams - 2 from each faction (1/ guild) + 1 from LA + 3 come as you go teams, as such.
Perhaps do a Bo3 over concurrent weekends? 16 teams does that nicely - can randomise seeds at each stage, i.e.
  • tLB
  • HNs
  • RR
  • Fury
  • PWnD
  • Team C
  • DD
  • GODS
  • IO
  • Team A
  • TSS
  • DMz
  • CLAD
  • Team B
  • MADD
  • FoN
Assuming top half vs bottom half, i.e. tlB vs FoN, IO vs GODS, could be logistically easy. Random.org does these, so its quite easy to get these nice and random.
If bottom all won, then we could rinse and repeat.
  • Team A
  • IO
  • FoN
  • CLAD
  • TSS
  • Team B
  • DMz
  • MADD
and so forth.
