Faction Areas
Modred - I meant that as well, and I agree that if I am from one faction and I party with people from another faction there could be some repercussions. I hope though that these are not huge as it will really cut down on the variety of people that you can party with unless you end up making lots of characters across all the factions. Penalizing people who party with others from other factions is akin to enforcing RP, which is something that I thought was not going to be done. Yes I know that NPCs in factions will be hostile to you - but it should not be evident to all where you are from and what your faction is. I mean, is everyone going to have ESP or something?

actually, it's a lot more basic that RP... if you play, say, counter strike, and you play as a counter terrorist, your not gonna be fighting along side the terrorists... it's a simple team vs team game play.Penalizing people who party with others from other factions is akin to enforcing RP,

There will be nothing to STOP you from partying up with players from other factions, once you are out into the level 6-10 areas where you would be likely to run into them. The difficulty might come in when you have to decide where to head to sell off your loot - you have unopposed access to YOUR faction's city, and every faction exept LA has one allied faction which gives you a second city with unopposed access. (As a matter of fact, you are encouraged to party with the members of your allied faction - their being on the same server means that you are likely to run into them before opposing factions.)
Hope This Helps.

My point is that in a RP world we should not have the ability to see things that are not physically obvious - and faction should probably be one of those things. You can't always tell a class or religion of character you see, you can't tell feats and skills, so why can you tell what faction a person is? If you can't tell the faction, then you may very well be allying with a sworn enemy when you party and not even know.lord_modred wrote:.....
did you not see the "counter strike" referance? i was not talking about real life
Yes these are things I would expect especially at the start. As we get more diverse and developed characters I can see cross-faction parties though. It definitely provides more things to consider.LadyCheron wrote:There will be nothing to STOP you from partying up with players from other factions, once you are out into the level 6-10 areas where you would be likely to run into them. yep... this is infact forcing a form of RP on you. it goes both ways tho.
we arent going to whine about you doing it ooc, eh welli surely hope no1 will...
But that is a huge part of choosing a faction, deciding who you will be allied with.

Well there are tons of people I play with, and many want to try different builds as I do myself. Kind of hard to that if we all are confined to the same faction! I think there will be a lot of mixing of factions, especially early on as people try to figure out what's what. And who knows - maybe people will shift guilds because the characters they want to play are primarily in an opposing faction. Now that could be contentious!
