dragon knight summons
Haven't you ever watched a MOVIE??? Good ALWAYS triumphs over evil! ;PDeath Dealer1 wrote:actually..this post has nothing to do with ppl getting the beat down and being upset about it. its a question of why the solar is so much better than the other 2 summons under dragon knight.
the beefy summons for BG, PM, and SD aren't part of the dragon knight question. the solar gets a weapon, gets its own buffs, heals itself 2-3 times, has nice ac, and can tank most moderately made lvl 30 fighters without the casters help at all. if you throw in cleric support with buffs and such then its a monster.
i haven't seen a slaad last very long in any battle except with very low lvl chars. the balor is a nice setup but usually dies while it casts 10 non hurting harms on anything that moves. even when buffed the balor lasts a minimal amount of time compared to the solar.
so i ask again....why is the solar so much better than the other 2?
The salad is meant to be cruddy because the PC that casts it will probably not be effected by the protection from good/evil spells or smite good/evil, etc.., so it balances out. If you buff the salad a bit, it can be a nice tank, but no where near as powerful as the solar or balor.

I agree, the Solar is extremely powerfull. My lvl 32 Druid has epic spell focus necromancy and conjuration as well as mummy dust. Unbuffed my mummy gets wasted by a lvl 32 clerics Solar (without and spell focus conjuration). It isnt even a match. I've seen the same for the Balor and Slaad. So, the only summon that can take a base Solar is the lvl30 PM summon?? You cant even get to lvl 40 if you have a life.
Also, the Solar has insane spot, but the undead summons do not.
Perhaps change the spells that Balor casts, or dont have it cast any spells. Maybe change the dmg that undead do to 1-6 +str mod, instead of 1-3. Just some ideas.

I agree the mummy could use a little damage increase. I want to say though, that when I say a little i mean a little. a basic longsword/shield or greatsword would make him alot better because it doubles/triples the damage and allows weapon buffs.Marah Telexus wrote:I agree, the Solar is extremely powerfull. But I think you are underestimating the potential of the mummy as is. A solar/slaad/fiend has their lvl capped (dunno the level), whereas a mummy doesnt. every level after the cap, your mummy will catch up to the solar.
I would like to see a lvl 40 mage with all the feats for mummy and a lvl 40 mage with all the feats for solar and have their summons square off unbuffed.
The results would help decide how much th esummons are over/under powered. I would be willing to help test this if a DM/Dev wants to try it out.

From what I see with Mummy dust so far, levels have only given it more HP since I got it. Have only had it for 2 or 3 levels though.
Got 5 of the 6 focus feats to power it up.
Don't forget about empowered (or even regular if your high enough level) negative energy burst, max out the bonus str on your mummy.

with my wiz at 30+, the epic mummy dust is a pretty good tank. 700+ hp with stronger punches helps out.
at 20s however, its pretty much a meatshield that cant do much damage on epic mobs.
not sure about the damage type however but i noticed that its bludgeoning?
maybe the devs can change its damage to creature-claws?
and its been a debate as to why it has weapon feats but never had a weapon. i'd think it never deserved any weapons at all. i think it deserves smething else like improved evasion perhaps?

i dont like those solar creatures all that goodness
. dragon knight or undead summons are not suppose to be another pc following you around they are a just a speed bump so don't expect some great fighter the solar needs some reduction the first being its original ts ability a wizard with a 400+hp shield and it should hit strong? nah seems to much to me

The healing hand or killing blow, how will Slayer make your day?
