I think this thread has seen more use of this skill than any other in history.

yours were 20-45 .... while melee was doing 60-80. were both of you usingthe same attack weapon? (slash,bludgeon,or pierce) who knows maybe you were hitting someone with your fist and he monster had high resistance/immunity to bludgeon and the melee class was using a weapon that bypassed or was not the resistance or immunity of the monter he was attacking. and were you STR based same as the melee one?

/me takes out my manual ....

Monks Bludgeon attack at Lv20 will dish out the highest damage than any weapon (1d20 / 2d6) [1st number is done by med/large , 2nd number is done by small]

highest Bludgeon damage on weapon is done by a Heavy Flail 1d10 (19-20/x2) .... thats 1d10 short from a Lv20 monk(fist) which would deal 1d20

again i made a comparison on beings that roam around planes that are mostly sneak/crit immunes ...... thus MONK still does more damage on bludgeon..... now if the "being" has resistance/immunity to bludgeon. thats when you take out your Kama ... and with Kama you still can attack more often with slash damage thus dealing more damage per round as compared to other melee class.

Flurry of Blow will give you an extra hit. Monks can do 5hits while other melee class only get 4hits. My Lv30monk does 6hits when doing Flurry of Blow (maybe due to the fact that i multiclassed after Lv20 :D ) so that doesnt count as a pure monk ..... BUT fact still remains that a Monk can do 5hits while others only 4hits ..... thats an extra 1hit. thus killing opponent 20% faster than other :D . am i wrong on this part? :D

~~~~
with regards to the AC about monk. i did mentioned Unbuffed :D now imagine if he was actually buffed. Monks gain AC with wisdom modifier right? pair him up with a High caster Level druid and give him Owls Insight (wisdom = 1/2 caster level) :D . the Monks AC doesnt stop there. at Lv18 monks get to cast Empty Body (50%concealment bonus) and am pretty sure everyone loves that. its like ii :D
with regards to Monks Speed +10% every 3levels after 20 if am not mistaken. so ... huhm a monk at 35 will have what 200%? heck no hasted class can chase him except another monk :D
sorry for the OUT-TOPIC.
Back to topic. Like fatzo said theres no way to chase a high level monk since he only goes to that tunnel (what ever that is sorry no idea since i dont play much on main). unless i think if you lay loads of traps on that portal :D and wish he trips on everyone of it and hope it actually works.
:D but what Amoenotep said puzzles me "they are dwarves and dig in the dirt" ... i wonder if they cover it as fast as they dig it :D kidding.
-BB- is the one with the pure monk that we actually leveld up, so I'm going to have to say we know from experience that its a huge pain in the #%@ to level one up. Unless your a suicide monk with no AC, your damage isn't going to be that great. You can get your AC high by sacrificing your offensive, with bard song, clerical buffs, and Blinding Speed we got Sandy's AC to 80.
then i guess i cant relate to you guys. since am having no trouble leveling my monk(though it was multiclassed) i do a total of 7xattacks (dual kama). thats almost 2x more often than other melee class. Crit damage wouldnt matter much since most stuff in planar area are crit immune :D
but if you guys could reach that much AC.... wouldnt it have been more practical if you didnt sacrifice you damage for high AC :D. anyways i wont argue much further. you guys have played this game far longer than i have. but all am gonna say is am not having any trouble. or probably the only trouble ihave is my heavy +ecl penalty
sorry but, you really should wait a bit and test yourself against all mops first. You will find that for many of them you will need the high ac or your dead. No save will help you from multiple massive crits. Also remind yourself that you will hunt no where solo as you will take forever to kill anything worth its XP.
I would refer to my earlier post and let you know that yes we were both doing bludeoning and slashing damage. I however had an added elemental damage and was still doing way less damage.
Honestly get your character to level 30 at least then test it. Once you do, you will see that I am 100% correct! I rest my case. :P
heres the fix, make the tunnel open to everyone.
its fine that a dwarf can dig and run through tunnels with his relic, but is he filling it in as he goes? why is it someone else cant see this huge hole in the ground and enter it?
lets get logical here people.
Ahem!
Hello!!!!!
It's a magical tunnel. None of you can see it as it was designed strictly for the Dwarves and the Gnomes by their wonderous allies the Pech.
I mean please, this is a game and thus make believe right??? :shock:
*Can we please lock this topic as it's already been ruled on and thus a complete waist of band-width......*
AHEM to you ! :shock:
"magical" tunnle? what did dwarfs all of a sudden become elves? pppfffffft ! there is nothing magical about dwarfs, they drink, and burp and eat and drink and *explitive deleted* and they smelll like public restrooms ...or better yet they smell like Bayonne, NJ at LOW TIDE (yes i would know) :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
but i must say , mr jegaboo has a valid point , the dwarfs are too drunk to be able to sucessfully seal their tunnle magically...they would probably be more likley to seal themselves out of their own city out of pure stupidity....
and this is also a very socialist idea : a tunnle for all to access and ALL to benifit from.... here we have a filthy Dwarven class of burgosie's emerging from the socialist paradise of atheria...and they are trying to opress the rest of the races in our glorious Kolkhoz-like paradise ! the Proliteriat must stay strong ! to hell with this 1337-ist tunnel !!!!!! :twisted: :P :D :twisted:
( i am writing a paper for my stalinism class at the moment, it seems some of my babble leeched into this thread) ahahahha !
