On that note, I think penguins are highly overpowered. Also, they counter my favorite character build.Binkyuk wrote:Shush!

I don't think i've heard many people describe the planar human races as overpowered except Earth Genasi. Well and maybe Aasimar.
As for my favourite build, I love all races equally, except stock humans 'cos they're boring, and half elves 'cos they're pants.
There is a problem that dumbkopf half-blind combat raisers could cost you xp.

Off-topic I know, but aasimar are not overpowered. They are ECL 2 (slower XP), get 20% immunity to fire/acid/elecrical (whoopty doo, unless you like your hellballz
), +2 wis and +2 cha, and a pretty worthless racial ability unless it somehow gets better at higher levels.

It was about diverting the topic away from something that is probably better off being "broken".

why would NOT having a respawn penalty bother you ??!!!!
with such a penalty enacted, you might as well throw out ECL completly on all planar subraces then - ( open mouth and insert foot ! )
so my question is : why bring it up in the first place ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
end this...someone find Chase !!!
it has already become a tangent.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if any of you can remember back in your days in school , weather it be primary, highschool, or college ....there would always be some TOOL who reminded the teacher/professor that such and such assignment was do ...or ask the question abruptly in class : OH didnt you say we were having a quiz today ? ........ (open mouth insert foot))

By your logic, Fatzo, we should never tell the Devs that something is wrong and take advantage of it since they don't know either.
You're going by the logic of what they don't know, won't hurt them. Its still a bug, and it still needs to be corrected and fixed. Taking advantage of it would be an exploit. Wether fixing it means correcting the Wiki and boards so that the penalty is not applied, or scripting it in, its still a bug.

well based on your logic --- every time my earthgen dies, i am exploiting !P. Fricebottle wrote:By your logic, Fatzo, we should never tell the Devs that something is wrong and take advantage of it since they don't know either.

think about your rationale tho -- its not like that lvl 9 yuan-ti longsword that used to be able to be equipped at level 1 (also on the wiki) or the fact that u arent required to take earth , fire, etc for the respectable X-genasi race when taking cleric levels in it....those are things that should be of concern.........
this deals with xp loss upon death regardless of a raise --imo that whole line sounds irrational ..
for the ill-minded maybe i should have just said that i would like to see things stay as-is as far as this matter is concerned -- and to justify my reasoning i would like to mention the following aspects of the game (and what makes ns-4 unique) as opposed to oteher server layouts or the single player nwn mode that makes dying a bit more frequent than usual:
1. pk server (in general)
2. the relic game (which invloves pk-ing)
3. dm-event(s)
4. if a dm smites you for shouting "PIE" you will end up loosing xp
5. random yet rare transition deaths
6. accidentally resting with too low health
and of course i will not mention natural deaths (i.ei) pvm wich imo is the only thing justifiable to have a all-the-time-xp-penalty worked in ...but seeming that that would require a retarted ammount of coding, i dont think the devs would want to be bothered....besides its been a while since an update..maybe a few suprises are lurking around the corner for all of us !
anyhows- it is mentioned on the wiki ... so go un-edit it in the meantime, and if and when somthing is changed you can then update it again
AND !!!! dont be SINGLE MINDED !!!! there are many earthgens on the server and they are not all in LA ...so my opinion here isnt slefish

I don't think Fatzo wants to lose his cheese EG cleric builds so SHHHhhhh about the domain restrictions. As far as loosing xp I was concerned about that when I first started playing here and wouldn't touch one of those sub-races because of it... then when I realized that it didn't actually happen I thought the ECL was not worth it. To put the two together would be a HUGE disadvantage and certainly make any type of planar subrace almost unplayable.

We are well aware of the problems associated with Sub-races and Clerical domains/alignments. Its one of those things that will take time to address as a dev can get some free time to check it out.
As for the planetouched and exp loss on any sort of rez, I don't know if it was originally intended to be as such, and then not implemented, or simply decided against and then the corresponding documentation wasn't updated.
Sooooo, we'll look into it and see if we can't track down the origins of the matter.

Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.
Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.
