Pure updates...?
I would love to see some bard-only armours that have reduced or neutralized spell failure rates.

This, imho, is a good idea since Bards cannot avail themselves of the auto-still feats 9th level casters can. In other words, armor effectively eliminates a Bard's 6th level spells.I would love to see some bard-only armours that have reduced or neutralized spell failure rates.

and make bards more powerful? I dont think so. I am an avid bard supporter but eliminating the need for still spell or casting without taking off heavy armor/shield will make a powerful class even that much more unstoppable.
If you want to make a caster bard, go dex anyway. Stength bards have to have some kind of penalty...

Clearly. I meant the light stuff that bards have access to anyways, similar to what I hear goes on in NWN2.

this thread seems to be drifting away from pure updates and over to gear updates.
I wonder if there's a way to give a negative spell failure value to a toon (say 20%) so it can cast fully in light armor, or somewhat better in medium. for pure bard you could increase it from 5 to 25% by the end or something, maybe some of that light and medium armor would actually be put to use.

or the reduced failure armor could be a reward for going pure instead of a token for +ab or ac or whatever else. it the gear is droppable, then we definitely are talking about the wrong thing. items as a pure class bonus seems like a versitale idea to me. it could even be scripted to give item choices i believe. so a fighting toon vs a casting toon wouldn't be forced in one direction with bonuses.
How much for the orangutan?
