Nothing too offensive about Overwhelming crit since it's just extra damage for a single weapon you put a bunch of feats in... but Dev Crit is disabled in NS4 last I heard.

Last I heard it is legal... certainly hould be with mages running around using death magic left and right on all the low-save NS4 characters

Besides, I've been building my character towards it in order to counter all this magic and will be very disappointed if I can't use it

Agreed, if mages get insta-kill spells, why can't a warrior have an insta kill feat?

Whaa?? No dev crit? That'd be no good.. What's so bad about it? All you need to do is tweak your build to have a good fort save.

As a matter of fact, PM is what I was going to mention with regards to Dev Crit. I am fairly certain that once people started going Dev Crit crazy, many people would simply start making MA fighter/PMs or cleric/PMs for the immunity. Building up one's fort save is nice, but thanks to the auto-fails one would still have a 5% chance of dying instantly for any given Dev Critter's critical. Unfortunately, keeping Dev Crit out may be a necessary evil. OTOH, the more I play my new Sorc, the more I think something needs to be done about balance. Mord's is simply insanely powerful considering the lack of perma-buffs.

I'm hoping the issue isn't changed midway through the game. Not only would it hurt fighters, but currently i can go two ways i'd like, ranger/bard/AA, or ranger/bard/pm in case dev crit exists. I don't think it'll ruin my character either way, but it would kinda suck to take ten levels of pm when i could've taken 10 of AA.

dont plan your builds around what other people might use. its not fun that way. with that said its not like 10 levels of PM will be 10 levels wasted if there is no dev crit. i mean its not like you'll lose the huge AC bonus, the crit immune, the touch attacks, or the summonses.

summmons and touch attacks i don't plan on. But i'd prefer having more dmg from arrows vs ac, which i don't think i'll need to worry about. Still, i planned my char on the fact that fighters would kill me on 5% of their hits and so i took pm. If i don't have to worry about dying like that, i'd most likely take an offensive route(AA) so that i could kill mages better(as i'm generally not worried about fighters)

Auto fail

Post by Levan75 »

With respect to Dev Crit I believe u get a fortitude save vs a dev crit, and I believ DD stated he was removing auto fail on 1 and auto success on 20 for saves. So building up ur fortitude will certainly help v dev crit,

Please note that attack rolls are entirely seperate. auto fail and success still occur here.

This is great cause it means if u have a decently high fortitude then dev crit cant hurt you.. cept for the crit damage. :P
