The Death Express

It is a well known fact that that nearly all Neversummer 4 players get a friend to PK them for a quick, penalty free ride back to their bind point.

As a Dev and DM team we decided we had two options. We could invoke some code to ensure a penalty was issued to those doing this, or we could embrace this practice as something that players only do so that they can spend more time having fun while they are here.

I'm hoping you will be pleased to hear that after a long and heated debate we have decided on the latter option for the time being.

This means that as of today you may use your NS Diary to call upon the gods to kill you where you stand. I hear they are very obliging. You may respawn from this without penalty or cost.

Ultimately we hope that you will spend less time trudging around and more time having fun - in particular once you have finished a quest (ie having finished a run up the mountain there's no need to have to run back down). We'd also like to think that this feature helps to make the server a little more friendly to real life.

The Death Express may NOT be used if your Relic Cradle is under threat, if there are hostile players or monsters nearby or if you are in combat.

So there you have it - let us know what you think of this feature. Your feedback and the way we see it being used will determine whether or not it stays.

Are those restrictions hard coded, or are they DM-enforced?

Don't forget to include your ally's relic cradle too - don't want whacky cross-defending exploiting.

Hard coded of course, I include many diverse and differing things in my code, but PC trust has never been one of them.

We have Timestop which is the I win button and now we have The NS Death Express...the kevorkian button.
Seriously though, I do like it.
It has long been a pain when a group is on a mission and 2-3 drop for what ever reason and you and one other are left in an untenable position. Instead of one lucky player getting a free ride and one having to either make the long walk or worse...All of these changes make me think of a qoute from FMJ...These are great days we're living, bros! I have to say that the changes to the diary are quite fun! It is nice to be able to remind yourself of the tomes you have used, but even more fun is the Death Express. It does solve lots of problems and it will accomplish the task of getting us back to more fun times! Hats off to all who worked on it and thanks Zing for making it already exploit proof!

That just means the gods what you to hit it again

I suspect that using the worship emote or simply taking the cloak off and putting it back on would fix that.
