Monks (and other classes) In MA (and other factions).
If you look up Monks on the Wiki you can see that it says they can be in any faction...
http://www.nsrealm.com/ns4wiki/index.php/Monk
But if you look up say the Mystral Ascendancy Faction you see Monks not listed as a class...
http://www.nsrealm.com/ns4wiki/index.ph ... Ascendancy
Logically (ignoring errors) the All would supercede the factional lists of classes because the lists are already not fully inclusive (its easier to denote exceptions then it is to list full inclusions).
In game it seems Monks can't join MA nor take a Monk level once in the faction (though I was told by a Guilded player they can).
Its a bit of a pain discovering you can't take a level of a class when you check and see that you can (even ask others). Even testing to take a level you only find out after levelling up that you can't. Wiki Editor needs to do his job!
I recall trying to take a Paladin level in AO which had Classes listed as All and discovering I couldn't.
Would be nice if lists were definitive and accurate.
I'm not sure why Monks are restricted from being in MA. Other classes being restricted in some factions make sense. But MA Monks would actually be interesting. As it is it just made 2 characters my brother and I won't be playing any more even though we were looking forward to the builds and had actually verified that it was allowed.

I don't know why the Wiki would say monks are allowable in all factions, not so long ago they weren't allowed in The Circle either.
Though do you really feel that not being able to make a Monk/PM build is a reason to up sticks and go elsewhere?
If you found 2 conflicting Wiki articles then you can ask on the forums, if nothing else it highlights that the Wiki is wrong so it can be changed (which it now is).

To tell you the truth, I'm pretty much the last active Wiki Editor left. This Wiki is supposed to be player run, I can't do everything myself. Hell, I've never leveled an MA character past level 1 so I wouldn't know.
If you see something wrong in the Wiki, theres an edit button. Anybody can add on and edit the Wiki. Instead of complaining about the inaccuracies of the Wiki, why don't you try to help fix this? Its supposed to be player-run, but very few players actually fix anything. Most just go on the forums and complain about how its inaccurate.

I agree to a point, I would like to add stuff to the wiki, but I do not know the ins and outs of making sections or even adding bullets(or pics) so my contributions are largely grammatical. Is there a wiki for dummies out there?P. Fricebottle wrote:Precisely.Sparky wrote:None of the Dev/DM staff run the Wiki. Its all player driven, so if you find a error, you can change it.

rather than screenshot-and-crawl through every item to get it's stats added to the wiki, is it possible (or even desirable) to get a database direct dump of certain item classes (like all the craftables, all the generic droppables, etc).
with a flat text dump in just about any regular format i can retweak it to make wiki importing easier and more accurate.
I know sometimes mod devs want to keep everything as secret as possible, so if this isn't something the management wants i understand.

You know, PMs do have a killer summon. Also, their AC would be godly. PMs are hard enough to kill already.LinuxPup wrote:Actually a monk/PM wouldn't be so great... crappy ab... might be hard to kill, but it wouldn't be able to kill anything. PMs actualy have decent AB if you're first 20 levels are fighter.

Last time I checked, the only reason anyone played a high level PM was for the summon.

eh, a monk/wiz/pm would be interesting, but they'd have to be shieldless and dex based in order to get the godly ac (and goodbye melee damage). with a good wisdom to boot (at least 30 buffed to do better than a tower shield).
you'd have to slog to 30 pm at 40th to get the top summon. but a dex ftr wiz pm is unhittable anyway, not sure 5 monk would really add much.

MA does not deserve monks.

the faction-restrictions on classes keep the playerbase moving i think. if you really want a monk you'll have to start up in a new faction, keeps things from freezing in place.
otherwise you'd end up with truly dead end factions where nobody logs, ever. (as it is with all the factions we have it seems hard to keep more than 2 or 3 active at any given time given the size of the playerbase.)
